It’s fitting this experimental pale ale was the first beer brewed at our Portland Pub. This XPA gets its bitter twist from Nugget, and Northern Brewer hops, then delivers a pronounced citrus kick from Cascade, Centennial and Citra hops. Consider this your next hop obsession.

Poured a nice hazy orange from a bomber into a pint glass. Aroma was pine with some sweetness and a bit of citrus. Taste was better, with a great balance and more hop character than you’d expect with its 58 IBUs. A touch more carbonation than I would like, but that’s a minor quibble. This had just the right balance of flavor and easy-drinking quality for a hot summer day.

Pours burnt orange with some nice white head. Nose is caramel, biscuit, resin, and nondistinct citrus. Taste is pine, resin, grapefruit, biscuit, and a hint of caramel. Light bodied with good carbonation. This is a perfectly decent pale ale. It’s very drinkable and mild enough to have mass appeal.

12oz bottle. Poured an amber color with a large sized off white head. Stale hops, floral, and citrus. Toasty.

Pours a slightly tinted copper, aroma is very resinous, sappy, citrus... Traces of honey. Zesty pepper on the tongue, orange and grapefruit but a nice maltiness lurks towards the back, caramel, some ripe apple. Pretty good.

12oz bottle cloudy orange pour frothy white head big citrus nose taste is sweet citrus with a small bitter pine finish

piscator34 (2622) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 12, 2017
Draft at the brewery. Pale copper in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of sweet orange peel, fairly sweet pale malt, mild pine resin, and a bit of toffee. More sweet pale malt on the palate, along with notes of earthy citrus and iron-like well water. Slightly sticky on the palate with moderate bitterness. Very malty for a supposedly hop-focused beer.

As expected souped up PA with rich malts and old school-like IPA minerals and hops. Some toffee and sweetness late. The ultimate comfort beer maybe.........impressive.

Hazy amber pour with a thinnish, creamy white head. Aroma is citrus, then toast, caramel, cooked citrus, perfumey and fruity floral notes. Flavor is citrus, toast, melon, caramel, burnt sugar, toasted grain. Light to medium body, dry feel, light to medium carbonation. Pretty good, nothing really stands out, but it’s fairly enjoyable.

Bottle at Jim’s Burger, Bangkok. Poured a very slightly hazy medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, citrus metallic hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a fresh crisp, citrusy, woody resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

tfontana (1094) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 2, 2017
Bottle pour. Appearance is cloudy light brown with noticeable floating sediment, minimal sparkle, finger-width off-white foamy head with poor retention and light leggy lacing. Aroma is herbal, musty hops over bready malt base. Taste is strong scallions and herbs over bready malts. Palate is medium bodied with thick, foamy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, I give it credit for being different as the herbal nature is not where most APA’s go, but it’s not my favorite.

Tap at Tap Singapore - very interesting beer - very very floral nose and taste almost camomile-like - lovely bitter finish makes me salivate - kinda out there so that’s good right?
