Pours dark brown with a little red in the light. Almost no head.
The nose is dark chocolate, cherry, and bready malt.
Tastes of chocolate malt, a little burnt cherry, and a nice bitter backend.
All around a nice tasty porter! Very drinkable. Good as a desert beer. jujubeast6000 (854) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 24, 2009
Reviewed 3/22/2009 (bottle BB 04/17/09):
Pours a very dark brown black colored body, with a big frothy tan color head, decent sized bubbles. Roasted coffee aroma, but very light. Some effervescence and clean aromas. An odd kind of fruity scent, not sure what it is. Some smokiness too. Roasted light sweet coffee taste, not too heavy. Some creaminess and a somewhat watery body. Smokey flavor. Satisfying. 12 oz. bottle, courtesy of MaltOMeal. Dark black pour with a medium sized, light tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some cocoa. Flavor is a bit muted, with notes of chocolate, licorice, and some hops. Finish is a bit creamy and bitter. Good beer. gracefullypunk (667) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 22, 2009
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2009 One of my favorite go-to beers. Pours a deep brown with a light cream head. Intense aroma with hints of chocolate. A little too carbonated and weak on the palate for a porter, in my opinion the weakest part of the beer. Wonderful taste though, strong malt with chocolate and a lingering coffee finish. thefrutigers (105) - , Arizona, USA - MAR 8, 2009
12 oz bottle: Smells of coffee and roasted malt. Very good pour and medium head. Good flavor of expresso and chocolate, but rather thin. Over all enjoyable.

Roasted malt aroma with coffee and florals.
Pours a black color with a hint of an amber hue and a minimal tan head.
Dark roasted malt taste with coffee and a hint of chocolate, butter background, and has multi hop flavors of pine and some lime/grapefruit.
Full bodied, resinous, bready, buttery, with soft crisp carbonation.
One of the better session Porters available in the bottle. beerbeaaach42 (3) - Reno, Nevada, USA - MAR 4, 2009 does not count
Have not had the opportunity to have this on tap, but out of the bottle is just great! Chocolate and coffee flavors! Dark brown pour with a tannish head. savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAR 3, 2009
ON tap. Nice rich aroma of malt, chocolate and coffee. Very dark brown in color with a tan head. The flavor is very smooth with a deep roasted flavor with hints of chocolate. This is a great beer on tap and even good out of a bottle, always a winner. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 3, 2009
A Mes rate: bottle from Specs.
This is bloody good you know. An almost black, red-brown colour with a thin, lasting beige head. Lovely roast malt aroma with hints of leather, tobacco and cocoa. Some good bitter chocolate too. Not quite so good in the mouth. Something oddly minty about it. The malt is quite obvious, the fruity notes are a little too plummy and dull for me and following the excellent aroma it all falls a bit flat. A little bit thin in the body too. Promised a lot, delivered little. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had much worse, I was just hoping for a bit more.
