3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with an off white head, burnt chocolate and malt aroma, caramel and toast, dark rich malt, creamy medium heavy body, chocolate on the finish. Fantastic Porter.
Where: Old Line Fine Wine Spirits & Bistro. How: 12 ounce bottle. Appearance: This has a nice look dark in color with about a finger of head. Aroma: light hop bitterness, malty, coffee and chocolate and a bit resiny. Taste: This is a very easy drinking porter. Well balanced on the flavor and overall just a great taste for 5.2 ABV. Palate: Slight carbonation, not to heavy, very drinkable. Overall I really enjoy this porter, definetely a nice balance of flavor and tart just what I expect from a porter. Not too sweet either. Excellent porter. A bit hoppy, but not to a point where it too much. Slight bitterness gives way to excellent roasted flavor. After taste isn’t great, but overall very satisfied. Will return again

Thick creamy beige head stayed on a near black, finely carbonated body. beerlover503a (28) - Alabama, USA - NOV 16, 2017
Minimal aroma of dark fruit & malt.
Medium bodied, smooth & sharp on the back. Dry.
Dark bitter berries, sugar, cream, malt, dark spirits & a hoppy undercurrent.
Black Butte has a slight hop bitterness up front with a nice distinctive chocolate and roasted finish. Very creamy mouthfeel and wonderfully intense flavors. I believe this was Deschutes first big name in their portfolio and it has done nothing but improve with time. gam (4096) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 29, 2017

Chocolatey flavor without being too heavy or creamy. Palette is a little sweet afterwards, but is still very drinkable.

Green coffee bean bitterness on the aroma, from a bottle , this has a rather thin mouthfeel , some spice and bitterness on the finish. Decent, but I was expecting more . mesacollier (34) - - OCT 5, 2017

This is a pretty common and excellent porter. Very creamy and robost flavors make this a staple porter for regular consumption. hohops (1115) - Kent, ENGLAND - SEP 30, 2017
Appearance- very dark brown, slight ruby tinge, a small beige head which fades quickly. Aroma- coffee, dark fruits, milk chocolate, toffee. Taste- chocolate, bitter coffee, dark fruit traces, caramel malt, chocolate fudge. Full and quite thick mouthfeel, chewy finish. Very good.
