With a dark beer as our first and flagship brand, Black Butte defined Deschutes as a radical player. A slight hop bitterness up front enhances the distinctive chocolate and roasted finish. Its prized for its creamy mouthfeel and intense complex flavors.

The pint of this beer had a nice dark black color and little head. The aroma was rich with chocolate. The taste was excellent. Very smooth and after some IPAs that is a welcomed and fresh taste. Even though I am not a huge fan of porters I can say this is a quality beer no doubt. I only knock it a little for not having a full taste or much aftertaste.

Black colour, medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dried fruits, coffee. Dry sweet taste, lightly bitter finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Very nice porter.

Overall, this Porter was "ok" to good, but not great, and would not be a contender against Founders. It pours with a decent head. It has light chocolate and coffee aromas, a slight bitterness in the taste, but the body was too thin for me. It reminded me more of a Stout than a Porter. I was hoping for more body.

Pours brown with a frothy off white head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted coffee, with dank notes, like old cheese. Taste is bittersweet, with notes of chocolate. Light fruity undertones, but the chocolate stays dominant. Body stays to the lighter side of medium. Good.

Aroma is even ok, some roastness, some coffee, some chocolate. But taste is very weak. No body, it is like water, so totally not creamy mouthfeel.

This might actually be my favorite porter Ive ever had. Its roast yields a nice chocolate and coffee taste while the hop adds the proper amount of bitterness. Pours nice and black with a slight hue of burnt red.

Bottel to mug. Smells of coffee with notes of chocolate. Dark in appearance, with decent tan head. Tastes like black coffee (of which I do not mind), with slight nuttiness. May get again if in the mood.

Bottle at bottle share. Very dark with oatmeal head- a bit of a gusher... I get some dark fruit. Dry, bready, not bitter or sweet.

Aroma: rich, malty, chocolatey; Appearance: extremely dark amber with offwhite head that lingers; Taste: follows nose; a lovely porter; Palate: heavy body with dry finish; Overall: very enjoyable. Would get again.

Bottle into a snifter. Aroma had chocolate, roasted malt, and I think anise. I dont really like anise, so it was hard to enjoy this one as much as I may have.
