XXIV. 24 years after Black Butte Porters debut, our potent, layered, imperial tribute returns. As usual, its a jazz riff, guided by the brewers muse and the lure of exotic ingredients. Artisanal dark chocolate nibs. Daglet dates. Mission figs. It may, possibly, hopefully, be the best edition yet. But, as it should be, youll be the judge of that.

Bottle @ Deans Birthday tasting, thnx to Bytemesis for shipping this. Pours a pitch black beer with a thick beige head on top. Aroma is heavily coffee, caramel, herbal, rosemary, dark chocolate and slight boozy and smokey. Flavour is quite sweet and herbal, full on the coffee and it has a thick, creamy mouthfeel. Awesome brew, very well balanced and nice complexity to it. Great!

Bug thanks to Mr.Hangover. Black as black can be, with no lace, beige, head. Deep smell of liquorish, roast, berry, plum, prune, spices and rosemary. Medium to full frothy body. Tastes of roasted malt, ash and a bitter finish. Dark chocolate with an slightly strong alcohol finish. I wish it was better but too strong and ashy.

On draft at PDX brewpub for OBF. Vinous and viscous. Coffee mixed with barrel. Lots of alcohol with a slight burn. Glad I tried it but Im hoping the bottles will mellow with some time.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of mocha, coffee, dates, dark chocolate, fig, light bourbon and a hint of cherry. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of dark chocolate, spice, roasted malt, dark fruit and light oak with a smooth dry lingering chocolate finish.

Stronger hop flavor than expected. Pine is present in flavor and nose. Pretty good taste to it.

Bomber. Pours opaque black with a small foamy head that fades quickly to a bubbly ring. Big dark chocolate aroma with some maple, dark fruit, and sort of cookie sweetness. Taste is fairly sweet, very little bitterness. Nice dark chocolate flavor with some light roast and dark fruit. Not very complex but pretty tasty. Smooth finish, some tobacco too. Thin to medium body, silky and a little oily mouthfeel. A big tasty imperial porter.
