Almost stout like. Pours ruby black without froth, but not as syrupy as a stout. Sweetness pervades flavor, with some fruit discernible. ABV fairly but not completely hidden. Good!

Bottle shared at Chad’s birthday. Dark pour with a brown head. Aroma is molasses, brown sugar, and plums. Taste is alcohol, more molasses, chocolate, and baking spice. Stizz19 (64) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 29, 2012
Smells very good on the nose, taste is potent. The figs and dates are apparent. Bought 2 of these so Ican age one for a year. Love this stuff...

22 oz black waxed bomber into a Bolt Cutter glass. Best after: 07/23/13. Thanks Steimie!
A - Pours a pitch black body. Just a slight bit of light makes it through the edges to show a dark brown color. Short lasting two fingers of khaki foam. Decent lacing and retention.
S - Super smokey malts. Burnt caramel, savory black peppercorns, herbal licorice, sweet dark chocolate and loads of figs and dates. Its like a fig newton was dropped into a smoked porter. Insanely complex and unique.
T - Roasted malts lead into an interesting plethora of flavors that weave in and out of savory and sweet. Caramel, brown sugar, peat, black pepper, dark chocolate and rich figs. Aftertaste of char. Taste is phenomenal and just all over the place.
M - Alcohol heat is present but welcome. Medium bodied with a nice level of carbonation.
O - A bit confusing and overwhelming but very tasty and unique. Would certainly be interested in seeing how it turns out after the "Best After" date. BeerBeforeH20 (129) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Had this one aging for awhile but was unable to resist drinking it early for Christmas. Has a strong aroma of chocolate and sweet fruits with a boozy undertone that is well hidden by the taste. Taste follows the aroma with sweet fruit being the dominant flavor, but really has some complexity to it that adds an element to this beer not often found. I may buy another of this to give it the proper aging and edit my review, but even without being fully aged this beer is pretty damn good!

650 ml bottle. Pours an ultra dark brown with light tan head. Aroma of vanilla, dark fruit, and milk chocolate. Flavors of sweet black coffee, prune juice, and light cocoa powder. Maybe a lttlle herbal. Sweet and juicy. Very nice. hallinghansen (3192) - Odense SV, DENMARK - DEC 19, 2012
Bottle. Dark brown body with a large offwhite head. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit, roast, coffee notes. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruit, roast. I think it gets better aging. evanlarkin (307) - Northfield, Minnesota, USA - DEC 18, 2012
Pours on the blacker side of brown, with a thin tan head. Aroma is semi-sweet dark malts and hints of fig. Taste is slightly sweet/toasty malt and rich caramel. Finish is a dry combination of stone fruit and earthy bitterness. jkbachman (181) - - DEC 17, 2012
Strong dark chocolate aroma with some fruity esters of plum. Surprisingly smooth at first. High fruity eater profile with an aftertaste of coffee, dark chocolate, raisins and dates.

Pours very dark with a huge dark tan head leaving lots of lacing. Aroma is cocoa, coffee, figs, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Taste is similar to the nose, with lots of cocoa, chocoalate, bourbon, oak and more chocolate. Medium body with a creamy texure and lively carbonation. Alcohol shows in the aftertaste as it warms. Overall, a tasty sipper with lots going on. Cheers!
