Dark black. Thin head...alot of lacing. Roasted. Bourbon? Somewhat woody. Vanilla.
22oz bottle pulled out of the cellar. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is black licorice molasses sweetness some pit fruit rich spice notes. Taste is more of the nice dark fruit notes some molasses chocolate sweetness. crispaire (239) - - JAN 27, 2017

Bottle shared at the pre GBBF chriso’s tasting day 2 07/08/2016. Many thanks to the Wingman. A pitch black opaque coloured pour with a lasting thin loose dark tan head. Aroma is is big brown sugars, liquorice, coconut. Flavour is composed of sweet sticky toffee, liquorice, some jammy fruits, strawberry, black sugars, . Black coloured body, tall and thick brown head on top, with pretty good retention.
Aroma has light soy sauce by now, some spices, nice chocolate notes, dark fruits, plums.
Taste is sweet with lots of dark fruits, plums especially, dates, figs, light alcohol, chocolate notes, some spices like cardamon, fudge, liquorice, walnuts.
Medium thick body, soft carbonation.

Bottle share at Chriso’s Sunday Shindig. Thanks! As ’Deschutes Black Butte XXIV’, black wax, 11%. Opaque black, foamy brown head. Aroma is all After Eight mints up front, cocoa, bready, mint. Big After Eights vibe. Body is smooth, oily, low carbonation. Taste is toasted coconut, spicy, molasses, cinnamon, woody, some booze showing up. Pretty decent. An interesting big beer. (3.8)
