COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dates, figs and chocolate. Black currants, barrel-aged in bourbon casks. The result is an Imperial Porter with a tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. A fitting tribute to the 25th Anniversary of our flagship beer.

mcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 21, 2013
On tap at PIB, pours a deep dark amber brown with a medium creamy tan head. Aroma brings out cocoa nibs, dark fruits, and some caramel notes. Flavour brings out big notes of tangerines upfront, followed by a bit of cocoa and dark fruits. Very juicy and chocolatey, and a tad cloying. Would probably do better with aging, but as is, it’s very good.

Bottle - Some dark coffee, dark fruit, berries, chocolate and barrel notes. Jet black with a thin brown head. Chocolate, bourbon, some sour berries, a long silky coffee with a slight boozey burn. A very complex and great beer, for the price you just can’t beat it.

Tap at the Portland venue. Pours very dark brown with a creamy tan head. Strong chocolate aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is blended bourbon/chocolate. Suggestions of chocolate cherry. Then some coffee. More red berry. Maybe some date. Lot going on here. Complex must be the word.
