COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dates, figs and chocolate. Black currants, barrel-aged in bourbon casks. The result is an Imperial Porter with a tart berry and chocolate aroma with luscious layers of dried fruit, oak and vanilla. A fitting tribute to the 25th Anniversary of our flagship beer.

Bottle from Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours near black with a nice tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a hearty chocolate and treacle flavor with lots of dark fruit and a bourbon trail.

Bottle, shared at RBAG by heavyleavy, and enjoyed again more recently. Hearty near black pour, ruby depths. Heaps of bitter chocolate, soft dark fruits, black cherry, oaky vanilla. Rich and delicious.

Bottle @ Greg’s dump. Pours a dark brown appearance, fairly clear with a thin dark brown head. Bourbon, roasty, dark chocolate, a bit woody, anise aroma. A bit hot, rich chocolate, oaky, moderate bourbon, dark fruity, anise flavor. Kind of boozy but kind of fun.

Tap at the Commons Santa Monica mislabeled as normal Black Butte. Excellent bourbon ba nose. Buttery, malted milk balls. Really nice. Taste is tart, acidic, big melted dark chocolate. Lactic backend. Clean, bitter.

22oz bottle shared by beerpig317. Dark brown color. Near black. Little khaki head. Good lace. Great dark fruit. Fig, light coffee, dark chocolate. Raisins, vinous notes. Moderate bitter taste. Alcohol pretty well hidden, just a very light bite. Bigger body. Smooth very light carbonation. More dry texture. Good stuff. Light spice. Nice dark chocolate.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Chocolate and light bourbon aroma. Chocolate and light red fruit flavor with light toffee. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate and light red fruit lingers with light toffee and light bourbon.

Bottle from Belmont Station. Pours a jet black color with a medium brown head. A big sweet sugary nose with coffee and cocoa. The flavor is rich berries, oak, tannins, coffee, roast, more dark fruit, oil, some cocoa, vanilla. Very complex big beer. A mostly slick oily palate. Very big. One of my favorites so far. The currants don’t distract at all. Finishes dry with anise and pepper.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Dark black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, dark fruits, hints of oak, biscuit, some spice, hints of molasses, oak, touch of bourbon. Taste is a mix of bourbon, dark chocolate, oak, hints of dark fruits, molasses, finishing firly sweet with some berry notes. Pretty nice, have liked all of these.

Bottle. Pours clear black, medium tan head, slow to dissipate, good lacing. Aroma is roasty, hints of tartness, apparently from the berries? Oak tannins and a bit of cocoa, fruity for sure. Flavor is light sweet, hints of tartness, roast, berries. Not getting much bourbon influence here. Medium body.
