This is not an IPA. I repeat, this is not an IPA!!! I classify Deschutes as one of the best breweries when it comes to hoppy ales, but something strange happened here. IPA’s are not clear and pale. IPA’s do not smell like a sweeter version of PBR. My wife knows very little about beer, so I asked her what kind of beer she thought I had poured, she said "it looks like a mug of pee". I asked her to smell it, she said " it smells like regular beer". This beer actually tasted pretty good, but when I spend $6 on an IPA, I expect it to taste, look, and smell like an IPA. Bomber. Sweet caramel and tropical fruit. Bitterness throughout.. Dangerously smooth drinking. Mild IPA finish. yespr (45508) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2012
22 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is light phenolic and dry grassy. Grassy, bitter and lig citrusy to grapefruity. Dry and light herbal into a bitter finish. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2012
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Very fresh and interesting aroma of hops - not all that piney or citrusy, just fresh. Medium body, a rather sweet fruitiness leading to this amazingly fresh and enticing hoppiness. Bitter alright but never over the top. Very pleasant. 021112 fiulijn (20516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 2, 2012

Hazy blond color. Peculiar aroma, some lemon and grass, light chamomile too. Light but clean mouthfeel; pleasant malt flavor with a hay edge; medium to strong bitterness, with some fruits and resins. Very pleasant.
Pours a clear gold with a white head and some lacing. The flavor has fresh citrus hops op front, but overall it's maltier than I expected, almost more like an a ESB or pilsener finish.

This is a pretty damn good showcase of cascade hops here - very light gold - soapy lace - aroma is extremely grassy and floral, with just a touch of clean sweetness - soft carbonation - medium sweet approach - just some lean, clean maltiness to start things off and offset the strong bitterness to come - malts become drier and crackery, just in time for potent floral, grassy and, ultimately, spicy cascade character - maybe just a hint of astrigency in the finish, but otherwise well done. hophead21112 (218) - Louisville, Colorado, USA - OCT 31, 2012
Slightly hazy yellow pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is floral, cracker, hint of citrus and pear. Medium full body with medium-low carbonation. Very champagne-y presentation. I need more bitter in an IPA. Shawnr51 (3) - Brentwood, USA - OCT 31, 2012 does not count
Very light aroma, not much hop profile, very light in color. Very thin taste but with an okay bitterness. Tastes like a higher alcohol twilight ale. brian60625 (746) - Illinois, USA - OCT 30, 2012
10 ounce tap at the Portland Deschutes Public House. This struck me as a casual beer, refreshing and light. I had no idea that it was 7.4%abv, and now that i know, I’m impressed! Pale yellow appearance, sleepy hop flavors, and a crisp finish. Small amount of grass in the aroma, thin amount of foam on top. I liked it, even if the main highlight is how it masks its magnitude.
