Bomber. Pours a straw color with a small head and nice lacing. Aroma is malty and some citrus, not your typical IPA hops. Flavor is floral, citrus and pine. This just doesn’t represent and IPA, more a pale ale. Not much in the finish. Not a bad beer, just expecting more from a Deschutes IPA. oRos (1675) - sacramento, California, USA - NOV 24, 2012
On tap at capitol beer. Has a sweet flavor with a slight bittering finish. This beer is really sweet for an IPA. Theydon_Bois (19490) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 24, 2012
Tap at Deschutes Brewery & Public House, Portland - 07/11/12.
Hazed light yellow with a thin tan head that quickly clears to the edge and forms a pond.
Nose is pale malts, light floral hop notes, citrus.
Taste follows nose, fresh floral hops, citrus fruit.
Medium bodied with soft carbonation, floral tones in the finish. vyvvy (6460) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - NOV 23, 2012
Pours clear pale yellow with a white head. The aroma has a soggy bread character, soap and veggies, some pale malt and no hops ~ sure doesn’t smell like a fresh hop IPA to me. It has a medium / light body with lots of sharp frothy carbonation. The taste begins with pale malt, light caramel, spice, pine, veggies and mustiness. The finish has more hoppiness with spice, pine and mint along with some grapefruit zest. As it warms the hops start showing up more. This is okay and has a nice hoppy character, but I’m not a fan of the overall package. edgallow (4211) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 23, 2012
22 oz bottle pours yellow with a white head. Aroma of malts, floral and a touch of citrus. Taste is the malts, nice bitter hops, but not as bitter as I was expecting.

bottle. golden pour, clarity, carbonated to white frothy head. lacing. earthy, wet leaves aroma with light citrus. funky. barnyard. off. light fruit. citrus finish. arrogantb (1402) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 22, 2012
22oz bottle $5. Appearance is super light yellow with a puffy white head, plenty of lace. Aroma is oddly like a pilsner, minerals, weird that I don’t get much hops from this. Flavor brings hoppiness but in an odd fashion, citrus and grass are muted by the weird malt profile. This wasn’t bad but it was a disappointment compared to hop trip or fresh hop mirror pond.

On tap at Darby's. clear yellow gold with white, medium density cap. Aroma of green grapes? Straw, and lightly bitter citrus. Taste is kind of lager-ish. Actually, aroma is reminiscent of pil malts. This is strange. It's not so much bitter as "fresh" or "crisp". And there's a lingering dark malt taste. almost a hint of saltiness. Trailing pepper, which actually peaked my interest a bit. Certainly not what I expected in this beer, or from deschutes. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Sampled in a bomber. A nice mild ipa. I was hopping for a bit more of a hop palate but this old have used a bit more. socaltay (204) - Ventura, California, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Pours a very pale yellow color with a nice white head that leaves plenty of lacing in the glass. The aroma is probably this beers strongest attribute with a citrusy hop smell coming through cleanly. The taste is a bit light but that does make it very easy to drink. Overall this beer is not anything amazing but it is a decent example of a fresh hop ale.
