I really like this beer! Nice and light golden hue, but packs a bit, fruity aroma punch. Nice and hoppy, good amount of bitters, just enough to boost the powerful tropical punch, pine, and pineapple aroma. There is so much of this fruity/flower aroma that it makes the beer sweet. This is a complex and great tasting IPA that I would drink over and over. DocJitsu (1979) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Pours a light, crystal clear yellow-golden color with a foamy, nearly pure white head. Head retention is about average with sudsy residue remaining on the edge of the glass as the head dissipates. A bouquet of grass and lemon with a few notes of pine. I’m not familiar with heirloom cascade, but I don’t get the grapefruit that is usually associated with cascade hops. Mouthfeel is very good for this style. Wet, slick, and not too much carbonation or hop hotness. The color, mouthfeel, and cleanness in the flavor compliment very well. This beer drinks a lot like a pilsener. A lot of nice balance. A pilsener bitterness appears at the finish. Some tangy citrus in the middle. No alcohol heat or taste at all, even though the ABV is pretty high. I really like this beer. hopphead88 (33) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - NOV 4, 2012
Pours a beautiful golden yellow with thin white head. Earthy aromas of pine, Meyer lemon, Pilsner malt and light grapefruit. Flavors of grapefruit, lemon cream, candied pineapple, bready pilsner malt, and pine needles with hints of ginger and honey. Med-light bodied. It is very supple, and silky in the mouth; reminds me of a fine blanc de blanc Champagne. The word that best sums up this ale is elegance, Its not a big "in you face" hop monster, hence it’s lower score.
A beautifully subtle and complex ale that is under appreciated by most hop-heads. youngchop (1) - - OCT 7, 2013 does not count
Note: The 2013 vintage is Amarillo hops not Cascade. Aroma is tropical and grapefruit. Pale gold in color, lighter than similar IPAs. Overall, great beer madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - AUG 4, 2013

Surprisingly pale gold beer, hazy and with a tidy white head. Palate is smooth and light and semi dry with fine carbonation. Interesting IPA! Smooth minty pine. A little banana ester, slightly spicy. Trace of orange citrus and pith, with mild grapefruit. Finishes dry with more minty pine. Hugely drinkable!
Nice yellow amber with a little cloudiness. Big white foam. Aroma is vegetal and floral hops. Nice balanced taste. Good are very nice but there’s still some malt. Great beer. raphael (1256) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 9, 2012
aromas of resin, powdered sugar, lemon. such a pale clear yellow with modest white head. cascade hops are known as citrus, but the green-ness adds a strong but clean resin, with the lemon more in the background, and alcohol. the strong hoppy taste with the light color is what strikes me—great job Deschutes. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 24, 2012
A - Pours a clear golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, pine, earthy, and spicy hops with pilsner malts and a bit of biscuit.
T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit and citrus hops, some bitterness, and some pilsner malts. Through the middle, floral, pine, and spicy hops come through with some more bitterness and some light biscuit malts. The finish is a mix of pilsner malts, some honey, grapefruit, floral, and grassy hops, and some resiny bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, bitter, and lightly sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice fresh hop beer. There is just enough malt for balance and it really lets the hops shine. AskForJenny (1086) - Ontario, New York, USA - NOV 26, 2012
22 oz - Lemony nose, honey and apple on the palate. A little fizzy, but I really thought this would have rated better. DuffMan (10436) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
Bottle. Bright yellow-gold, with a frothy white head that retains beautifully. Pleasant citrus and light pine hop aroma. Hop flavour is bright and delicious, fresh guava and lemon peel. Underlying malts are crackery and subdued, but allow for maximum expression of the lovely hop character. Loved it!
