On the X-tap at Deschutes in PDX--Served in a snifter, poured a dark amber-brownish body with a small wispy beige head. Fruity, nutty, malty sweet nose with spicy abbey flare and a chewy, gritty bite. This is perhaps the nicest example of a Belgian I have experienced at Deschutes. Similar to St. Bernardus Abt 12. great desert brew for that end of the evening enjoyment. AmEricanbrew (7011) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - JUL 22, 2008

Chestnut color with a frothy tan head. Classic, yeasty, earthy dubbel aromas of spices and dusty dark malts. The taste mirrors the aroma with dry malts and earthy yeast, with rootbeer sweet spices. Very nice beer here. [email protected]
the Deschutes Portland location.
Winter spiced aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and dried oranges. Very dark brown, orange hues on the edges. Great use of the spice to compliment and support the beer, nothing fights for attention here. thinner mouthfeel than expected, gulping this was no problem. Caramel colored and cloudy with a small head. Smell is caramel with some spice; cardamom and nutmeg. Flavor is a little watery. Sweet. Toffee, raisins, brown sugar, apples. Feels good and wet going down. Good, but I wish it had a more full flavor.

Copper with tan head. Malty sweet aroma typical of dubbel. Spicy malty flavor. Good dubbel for an American brewed beer

My favorite item at the brew pub out of seven beers I tried. Nice amber, brown sugar malt taste with some nutty spices and cinnamon. Creamy full body. Lightly sweet, but not too much. Surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Light carbonation. Needed a little bitterness and it would have been even better. NoiZe (2394) - Zeist, NETHERLANDS - AUG 16, 2008

Brown/amber colored brew. Yeasty, malty aroma and flavor. Some spices and sugary flavor. Nice try for an abbey dubbel, but they’ve got to add the magic touch..
Draft. Rich ruby-amber beer with a tan head. Malt and yeast aroma with light spice. Rich toffee flavor with spice and yeast and a bit of light frutiness. Medium-plus bodied. Light fruitiness lingers with rich malt, yeast, and light spice. slowrunner77 (12895) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 5, 2014
"a solid, if unspectacular, interpretaion of the style. malty, breadlike, doughey aroma, nice ruby brown color, decent medium bodied feel. flavor is yeasty and doughey, with a touch of spice and earth."
