COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’ve teamed up with Hair of the Dog Brewing Company to bring you another artistic collage of cask-aging alchemy. This encore collaboration delivers layers of vanilla, caramel and molasses with roasted accents and complex malt character. This second version magically blends The Abyss (100% aged in Pinot barrels) and The Stoic (100% aged in Pinot barrels) with Hair of the Dog’s Fred (aged in American oak and rye whiskey barrels) and Doggie Claws (100% aged in cognac barrels).

650 ml bottle. Dark brown appearance. Flavor shows complex dark malts, toffee, molasses, vanilla, oak and brown sugar. Mid palate offers insane barrel qualities, bourbon, vanilla, barrel wood, and slight coconut. Finish has a pleasant amount of toasted coconut. Booze is mostly hidden, some warming after the sip. Really nice blended brew.

Bomber from AFH. Dark reddish brown 1 finger tan head. split 3 ways, fridge temp. Unfortunately, i'm losing my sense of smell tonight. lightly carved, the ABV is seriously WELL hidden. sweet, light acetone at the finish, wood and molasses with caramel and vanilla. delicious blend.

Bottle shared by YJB thanks! Ruby brown pour, clear with a whisp if a head. Nose is slightly smoked and malty. Really nice taste. Deep and complex. Lightly tart, roasted malt and quite nice.

Pours a brownish color with little head. Aromas of vanilla, maple, wood, molasses and alcohol. Flavors are strong and with a fairly potent alcohol presence. Slightly sweet and sticky finish to go along with the alcohol burn. Good but a little harsh

Poured from 650mL bottle (bottled 8/1/16). Opaque dark brown with light tan head. Caramel malt with dried fruits, oak, light Pinot, hint of cognac and leather. A combo of some of my favourite beers creating a great, but not perfect blend. Some small room for improvement.

Light brown, not much head, sweet sticky, boozy, mapley and nice syrup. Woody finish, tons of alcohol.

Bottle at Black Christmas 2017
Dark color, near black. Caramel and alcohol aroma. Sweet malt flavor, with strong alcohol feeling and some sourness, boozy final.
Big but not very elegant.

Pours a deep dark brown from the bottle with hints of copper, bubbly tan head that dissipates fairly quickly to leave moderate lace. Aroma of big barrel vanilla notes, light dark fruit, molasses, and caramel sweetness. Taste is bigger on the vanilla barrel, bigger on the fruit, musty wine barrel, booze is definitely there, sweet barley wine base. Complex, intense, very good.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Nose is decadent and complex, with lots of red wine, dark fruits, liqueur and caramel. Flavour is elegant and complex as hell, with heaps of red wine barrel, liqueur, dark dried fruits and caramel. Nice oakiness to it, and a light warming effect that is never harsh. Just lovely stuff.
