COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Henge Experimental IPA is our annual exercise in IBU escalation. An outrageous amount of Centennial and Cascade hops are added to each barrel, with a heavy dry-hop presence as well. It is dense and muscular, with a blend of crystal, pale and carastan malts creating an overall biscuity characteristic. It’s all hop, no apologies.

Bottle @ home. Hazy amber pour, full white head. Herby nose, lil’ bubblegum. Spicy malts, nicely boozy and huge hop finish. Noice!

Tons of tangerine, grapefruit, and orange juice. Probably from the Cascade. Super drinkable very bitter. a lot going on here. As it warmed up I kept getting different flavors and aromas. This is an interesting IPA, I really like it. Theres something about it that’s different in a good way. I really enjoyed drinking it because of how much it changed as it got warm. Really good stuff I highly recommend this!

Rating #1048 -April 2, 2014 -650mL bomber from Sherbrooke for an exorbitant rate, but well worth it. Pours a darker amber, with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is citrusy, grapefruit hops predominant. Taste is extremely hoppy, lots of cool citrus notes - mild tropical, mild pine, mild orange zest. Extraordinarily balanced - the sweet, cookie dough malt met with doses of bitterness, and they all linger into the finish. This beer has me closer to unlocking hidden energy sources of the ancient past.

Bottle from brewery. Grapefruit, pine, floral, and citrus. Medium body. Floral, juice, grapefruit and blended fruits. Well balanced and not too hoppy. Really nice

This is a close, quite close, to perfect IIpa. The balance is extraordinary. Having just gotten off a week of solid IPAs, reviewing my notes all the samplings, this has got to be my favorite. Beautiful bouquet that warms up nicely in the floral aspects, not overpowering but rich and again balanced with hops and the malt characteristics. Color head and retention are great. Smooth. Bitter through and thru, the hops are all there with that touch of citra that stays with the tongue. Most excellent!!! I love Deschutes.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/15/2014. Pours light hazy/cloudy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, orange peel, lemon zest, pineapple, mango, peach, papaya, apricot, light caramel, bread, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of tangerine, orange peel, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, papaya, light caramel, bread, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, orange peel, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, light caramel, bread, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours hazy blond, finger white head Smell caramel, juicy tropical fruit Taste sweet gum, fruity, sticky Mid body Solid

Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - JUN 29, 2014
The most pronounced aroma is a hoppy tropical fruit fragrance offered up from a clear orange-amber pour with a white ring and no laciing. Malt notes, some biscuit, and tropical fruit yield to a rewarding bitter finish and lingering bitter aftertaste. Medium body and medium carbonation. Crisp, yet a subtle oily mouthfeel is present. Overall, thanks to the Deschutes’ Druids for getting us all stoned and unhinged in such a tasty way! (No heavy lifting needed here.)
