COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Part of the Bond Street Series. This Fresh Hop Pale Ale is all about celebrating the hop harvest in the fall. Fresh picked hops have to be added to the brew immediately and in abundance. Roughly 270 pounds of Crystal hops from Doug Weathers’ farm outside Salem, Oregon will be added to the 50 barrel batch in addition to some dry kilned whole flower hops. That adds up to approximately 5.5 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

It’s balanced with neither the malt or the hops overtaking the taste. It’s got a unique taste that I can’t place. It doesn’t have the "fresh brightness" that other fresh hop beers seem to have. Maybe it’s those dry-kilned hops they add? It’s pretty good, and relatively unique.

From Dec 2006 Poured from 22oz bottle(room temp) a hazy light reddish gold with a large head of foam that shrinks slowly leaving a fine layer with plenty of lacing. The smell is very hoppy. Nice dominating note of grapefruit that makes for a very nice nose. The taste is grapefruit and floral up front with some notes of biscuit and some malty tones that linger in the background creating some balance. The finish returns to the hops and makes for a nice dry finish. Yum. This is a very drinkable APA and the fact that it's only 5.5%abv helps in that department. I bought this on my last trip to Ft Collins Colorado and if it were available locally, I'd certainly stock up on this one. A *very* tasty example of the style that fans of hoppy APAs happy. Bottom line: Another in the series of the Bond Street Series that does not fail to satisfy. I recommend it. Update Nov. 27th, 2008. Since my review, Hop Trip has become a brew available locally and I've been buying it on a regular basis. As I'm sipping on a bottle right now, the first thing that strikes me is how wonderful the fresh hop flavour is in this brew. I've adjusted my rating accordingly...

Pours a hazy amber color with a two finger off white head. The aroma is pine needles, dank and earthy hops. The flavor is more of the same as the aroma. I was not overly impressed with this beer but I must admit the bottle I had was 5 months past the best by date so I will give it the benefit of the doubt.

Pours a cloudy light brown caramel color. Aroma of sweet vanilla and flowers. Taste is nicely leaning towards the malty side with a stiff bitter presence thoughout.

A 355ml bottle with a best before date of 26th December 2016, poured into a Mikkeller pint glass. It poured a clear copper amber colour with a two finger fluffy and foamy off white head that had decent retention and left thick-ish lacing. Aroma was leafy, grassy, pine with sweet pear, a hint of citrus and a light floral element. Tastes sweet and malty. Pine, grass and pear with hints of grapefruit, caramel and tea. Light bodied with moderate to light carbonation. Overall it’s quite nice. Not getting as much of the citrus that others seem to be getting (I will try another bottle), but the sweet-ish pear, pine, tea combo works quite nicely for me.

Pours copper orange with a one finger white head with good lacing. Aroma is of fresh citrus, pine, fresh cut grass, herbal hops, bready malts, toasted malts, and some light caramel sweet malts. Taste is about the same as the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, semi bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty, well balanced APA with some nice fresh hop notes.

Love the aroma but the hop dominant flavor isn’t really for me. It’s dry but actually relatively smooth. Decent west coast hop & a must try for hop heads.
