COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Enter, if you will, all the glorious aromatic complexity of the hop. This big, bold IPA’s intense multi-hop kick gets a subtle dose of restraint from select Crystal and Carastan malts. For discriminating hop heads.

Cloudy bronze colour. Moderately hoppy aroma, though the hops aren’t very lively, their aroma seems muted, flat and wet if that makes sense. Like the aroma, hop flavours are not well defined they tend to wallow in sweet malt and slowly peter out into a spicy hop finish. I suspect the bottle I tried was not the freshest, but it didn’t really show signs of past glory. Unlike most other Deschutes beers, this one did not really impress me.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2017 Another great IPA by Deschutes. The only brewery, in my opinion, that is brewing good IPAs, the rest are all the same. This one is a nice crisp IPA that is one of my favorites for cold weather. Has a nice malty character and mouth-feel with the perfrct touch of hops.

Nice IPA. Not strong aroma. Nice amber but cloudy. Clears eventually. Fairly full mouth with nice balanced hops and malt initially. Finishes nicely but a little sharp with good staying power. Been looking for more every day IPA when not spending for special. This could be it ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was a fan of this beer. It had good flavor for an IPA but finished on the light side. Not much of an aftertaste that some can leave, but left you wanting another sip ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Facebook in Menlo Park, CA. Aroma is mild malts, citrus peels, earthy bits. Taste is citrus-y and then an earthy bitterness that reminded me of chewing on a poisonous twig. Harsh.

Bottle from Total. Pours out a nice-looking deep amber color with a frothy light tan head and lots of lacing. Big fruity-spice aroma and flavors with a bit of citrus and pine. Good bitterness but a little too much on the sweet side for me.

12 ounce bottle. A good overall IPA. No complaints, but was expecting a bit more "punch" bordering on an Imperial IPA let’s say. That said, I doubt many drinkers, in the know, will complain about this beer!

hauxe (864) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - JUL 21, 2017
Pours amber from the bottle with a creamy head. The tropical notes are less overt than standard for the style. Instead, a blend of caramel and resin accompanied by light citrus & apple notes greets the nose. The hops makes itself felt in the taste, which is bitter with grapefruit and apple notes. Acridity in the finish. Body is medium, with moderate carbonation. Not bad.

j12601 (12982) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 17, 2017
On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed amber orange with a medium sized white head. Earthy pine and a bit of citrus on the nose, a bit of fruit. Medium bodied, soft yeast tones with a hint of banana. Thicker and maltier than expected from the nose, a bit of pungent earthy hops. Long toast and a bit of fruit into the finish. A touch flabby, long earth and pine.
