Weiss in German means “white” and is pronounced “vice”. This traditional South German Hefeweizen was brewed with 50% wheat, Pilsner, and Munich malts. The aromas of bananas and cloves dominate this very drinkable wheat ale.

KyotoLefty (10264) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 13, 2009
Draught at Deschutes Brewery and Public House in Portland. Decent wheat malt fragrance, with a good first taste including bananas and clove, quite authentic, but flavor quickly vanishes and leaves just a bit of cardboard and lemon. Hmmm. Good start, bad finish.

BelgianBeerGal (4066) - Panama City, Florida, USA - OCT 10, 2009
Draught sample at Portland location. Cloudy, golden colour that "looks like a hefe...smells like a hefe" and tastes like a well-done Bavarian hefe. Lots of banana and clove in the aroma and flavour.

alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - APR 6, 2009
On tap at the Portland location. Dark gold, close to an amber. Aroma of banana and clove. Slightly sweet. Flavor had a decent amount of sweetness. Banana notes. Alot of clove and spice in the finish. A bit too much spicing for my liking, but still good overall.

ABUSEDGOAT (2760) - California, USA - JUL 8, 2008
Golden colored. Aroma is wheaty with notes of citrus, banana, some grass. Medium to light bodied, lightly sour, lightly tart, quite drinkable. Decent.

Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 17, 2008
On tap at Bond Street Brewpub in Bend, OR--Hazy, soapy straw white body with a filmy white thin head. Mildly spicy clove-banana-plantain nose. Bavarian. Sweet, spicy, gritty, banana, plantain flavor. Residual sweet and creamy palate. Quite good for a hot high desert day!

neepsntatties (1988) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 28, 2009
Had this on tap at the Deschutes Public House in Portland’s Pearl Dist. Colour... cloudy, straw, thick head. Nose... butyl esters, light clove, some cinnamon. Palate... almost frothy on the palate, somewhat tangy, bananas, more clove, classic bubble gum flavours (like Bazooka), mildly grainy finish. Nice American take on a south German Hefe!

19Ei8hty (1166) - Washington, USA - JUL 28, 2008
On-tap, Public House, Bend OR - Banana and clove with a sweet estery profile. Slightly grainy wheat malt and some sour notes.
