Pours tawny with vibrant clarity and fine carbonation. Sour cherry and supple leather aromas follow in flavor, along with a supporting note of horseblanket. Tastes like it may be past its prime, as body is a bit thin with a slightly solventy finish.
Bottle shared at KyotoLefty’s 10,000th rating celebration. Very rich and smooth dark fruit nose, with prunes and raisins, some alcohol fumes (and they add to the richness), all still fresh and sharp. Dark brown, with a creamy beige head. Flavors of dark fruit and stone fruit, mildly sweet, with a smooth lighlty sweet fruity finish. Rich body, very creamy on the palate. This has matured so well. Bottle, side by side with the 2015, shared at my 10K rating celebration. Dry, austere treacle nose, tea, some pine, creamy. Glowing red-brown with lace. flavors of apricot, some banana, pine, resin, caramel, vanilla. Prefect integration on this one--just stellar. A: Mahogany body, cappuccino head, lacing.
N: Toffee, raisin, oxidation, burnt brown sugar, mintiness, some caramel, pecan, and minerality.
T: Very sweet, but not cloying. The oxidation helps.
M: Medium body, no alcohol, crisp carbonation.
O: Very nice. Doing pretty well with 6 years of age on it. But I like the 2000 more.

Bottle. A vigorous pour begets a one-finger soap bubble head the color of ginger. The liquid’s too dark to see through except when held to the light. Clear and effervescent. Red wine and cola in color. In the nose: vanilla, cola, burnt brown sugar, raisins, and bourbon. Noticeable alcohol heat. Flowery hops. Spicy yeast. In the flavor: Sweet prunes, vanilla, pepper, and caramel. Dr. Pepper! Super hot; you can feel the alcohol heat travel all the way down to the stomach. The slightest hint of roasted malts. (bottle - 22 oz - 2010 vintage) Murky copper pour with a thin tan head. Fruity and malty aroma with lots of caramel and still some good alcohol. Sat on this for 5 years before cracking it open. Creamy first impression, drinks more like a quadruppel than anything else I can think of.
