4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours smooth jet black with full, milk chocolaty brown head. Smells like roasted malts and barley, that’s it, if you don’t like those smells you probably won’t like the smell of this. It has a strong roasty flavor, very little hop flavor, but very strong, roasted malt flavor. Full-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture and very mild mouth-carbonation, Deschutes Obsidian Stout has a malty finish and has a little lasting sweetness.
It pours black with a tan head. It has moderate coffee aroma. Also hints of chocolate and dark roasted coffee flavors. Spicy elements and slightly burnt notes. charlotte (5387) - rødovre, DENMARK - JUL 10, 2017

Presque parfait. Magnifique bière. FreekyP is drinking an Obsidian Stout on nitro at Blue Rock, High Point NC. He thinks it is the best stout he has had in quite some time. The nitro pour brings out all best qualities of this beer. FreekyP thinks it may be the creamiest beer he has had in recollectable history. Unfortunately, recollectable history does not go that far back for FreekyP due to excessive consumption of malted beverages. This one strikes a perfect balance between roast and chocolate with espresso bitterness rising in the finish. FreekyP is impressed with the huge dollops of tan lace that are stuck to the sides of the glass as he consquarbles this beer. He thinks of heavenly thoughts, like midgets covered in chocolate syrup squirming in a trough of cotton balls. FreekyP has an extensive roster of issues which will not be discussed in this public forum, but he has an expert beer palate, and vehemently insists that this beer is "the shit". And so it is.
