-Me, after a 6’er of Obsidian. Seriously though, I would be willing to argue that this tastes as good as fresh Guinness off the cask.
Very good stout. It is smooth and slightly chocolate, not that it was added, but the undertone. It seems like there’s a lot of mediocre stouts but this is not one of them. It’s higher quality.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2018 Deep, rich, delicious stout, full of dark, dark chocolate, roasted malts, anise, and veins of black cherry and currant. Milk chocolate floats around the periphery, but the hops cut the sweetness with an abrupt bitter finish, followed by a dry, cocoa-dusted gade. Pours brown-black with a brief tan head and modest lacing. Mocha and roasted malt on the nose. Medium-bodied for a stout, but creamy and way too easy to drink. Great beer. drjoeng (1466) - SINGAPORE - JAN 11, 2018
6.4% ABV. Stout.
Poured out black. 40ºSRM.
Nose is sweet, smoke and milky. Coffee, dark fruit preserves, plum preserves.
Mouthfeel is light, watered honey. Palate has sweet roasted barley, ripe stone fruit, plum pudding. Nice clean bitter suggesting coffee, charcoal and burnt twigs. No fruitiness. Limited ume palate. Hops are woody and noble.
Finish is lightly sweet and clean charcoal.
Overall, a really tasty, flavorful stout exemplar. A little sweeter than I’d expect for a stout which makes me think that this is more like a milk stout with lactose added.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass.
Aroma: Malty. Toasted barley. Faint smell of roasted coffee.
Appearance: deep black coal. Tan, foamy head that lingers.
Taste: dark coffee, coffee maltiness, touch of smoke, a few bitter notes but well balanced with the malt considering that this is 55 IBU, I expected (but didn't necessarily want) more bitter notes.
Palate: good mouth-feel, carbonation lingers a bit on the tongue.
Overall: This is a very nice coffee stout. Recommended. the_beergery (185) - - DEC 27, 2017
12 fl oz bottle. Pours a dark opaque black with a moderate head of tan coloured froth which persists as a thinner ring later. Aroma is subdued, but comes across strongly of dark chocolates and cocoa, over roasted malts. Maybe a hint of coffee in those aromas too? Taste is dry, moderate bitter of chocolates and cocoa and roasted malts as well. Medium bodied with a slightly buzzy mouthfeel from the carbonation.

Nice. Black pour with beige head. Aroma is chocolate molasses and vanilla. Taste follows nose with a nice bitterness. balloonbuffoon (752) - - DEC 5, 2017
12floz bottle, BBD: 05.12.2018, $1.75 unit cost, nonic glass. A soft, level, tan head sits atop a near black body as roasted grains and molasses aromas escape. Balance is chief trait. It's like a toasted graham cracker. Perceived bitterness is nowhere near what the 55 IBU would suggest. A great all around stout. Cakes (498) - New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 27, 2017
Twelve ounce bottle. Black chocolate color, beige head. Bitter taste with roasted malts, chocolate, hops, vanilla, nuts and a bit coffee. Very nice. MrTipple (7004) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 5, 2017
Intense dark chocolate, cacao, dark roast filter, dark, charred malts. Hazy, very dark brown, small, creamy, beige head. Medium bitter. More dark chocolate, cacao, burnt malts, dried coffee beans, soft carbonation, full bodied. Beautiful, very punchy. Keg at GABF17, Denver. javadrinker (3) - - OCT 28, 2017 does not count
