COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’ve always believed the best way to respect tradition is to brew the unexpected. So when we set out to create a sessionable lager befitting of the Pacific Northwest, our sense of exploration led us to this dry-hopped wonder befitting of everyday adventure. Citrusy Tettnang Mandarina hops combine with the crisp, bright character of a traditional lager to deliver a beer that is truly refreshing, and undoubtedly worth sharing.

On tap, Sharkeys Radford and Deschutes, Roanoke. Golden, slight haze, nice head, appears unfiltered. Aroma is sweet malt, quality German hops. Hop aroma is fairly subdued, no pushy dry hop action, but well done. Taste is malt, sweet cereal, balanced bitterness. No diacetyl or DMS I can find, a clean, well made all-malt lager. Germans could drink this. I’m not sure Pacific wonderland befits German hop lager, but I won’t argue with a very nice beer. I’d like to rate it higher but it’s very good, not great.

A nice refreshing beer. Malty cereal and grain aromas and flavours. A nice hoppy finish. Good stuff.

ALLOVATE (3095) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 11, 2018
Into a snifter, chilled. Hazy, pastel, yellow-gold body with very little life evident. Head is a steady, half inch of rocky, tight, white foam that leaves a messy lace. Nose hints at lemon verbena, candied pear, damp fern leaves, chaff, green tea leaves and bitter gourd - very nice, clean. Quite sprightly on the palate. Very light and ceding up a sour, lemon citrus flavour that retards the tongue a little and draws instantly on the saliva glands. Powdery, dry, gritty malt builds and lingers long between sips. Moderately bitter and herbal back-end drops off to a crisp, clean finish. The citrus is dominant, though, making each sip spring the palate into life like a Berliner weisse bier would. Lemon and faint orange envelope all other nuances. I like it. Very refreshing, clean and quaffable. Could sit on this all day. A nice lager. (35,5cL, Bottled 07/08/17, 1st Choice Liquor, Riverton)

355ml bottle into schooner glass. Hazy amber beer with crown of foam on top. High fine carbonation. Light aroma of lemon, earth, and malt. Surprisingly light body, hints of grapefruit and pine. Finish is dank and earthy. Nice, well made but perhaps too much going on to be truly refreshing.

2nd beer of the day, 31st Dec 2017; poured into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip glass at my daughters in California. Clear and clean golden body, snow white head that tried to hang around for a while. Light citrus esters play with the malty aroma and the same happens in the taste, there is a malty lead tempered with a mild citrus leaning which leaves a little bitterness in the finish. An easy drinking Lager, both refreshing and thirst quenching.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a bubbly white head. Smell is cereal grain and hops. It has a good malt flavoring with lemon and grass notes. The crisp bitterness makes this more difficult to drink than other lagers.

Bottle: Clear gold with a tall white head. Grain, mild lemon/orange aroma. Taste is light.....grain malt, citrus....a tingle of zest. Really easy drinking and full flavoured. Very enjoyable.

355ml bottle. Pours a pale and clear straw gold. Aroma: straw, mild sweet and biscuity malt notes. Taste: straw, mild biscuity malt, pepper, citrus and very mild peach favours. Thin bodied. Mild flavoured. Mild spiciness at the back end of the palate. Easy to drink and pleasant but quit mild flavoured for a 5.5%beer. Nice but a bit dull.

12floz bottle, BBD:01.23.2018, $1.75 unit cost, pint glass. The body is a very pale gold, and is topped with a white head. Smells include: cereal grains, general herbs, grass, and lemon notes. Bitterness is moderate, but it is more of the abrasive sort that dampens the drinkability of this beer. Tastes like soured grains with black table pepper mixed in. Meh.
