A unique Belgian-style ale with notes of Pinot grape, berries and dried fruit along with light malt and caramel flavors. This Belgian style ale was aged in Pinot Noir barrels that were filled with Pinot grape must. The result, a unique flavor profile with some delicate notes of acidity and wine tannins. The light malt body makes sure the berry flavors stay at the forefront. Bomber. Red brown with a thin white ring. Oak, jammy red wine, sour dough, dark brown sugar and mineral water aromas. Lightly fruity flavor cut by a medium dry woody, mineral aftertaste. Medium heavy body with a smooth feel.

On tap at Lunar Brewing Co. and snifter served showing a clear, ruby highlighted, deep brown color, with a finger’s width of off white/light tan foam, and ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was slight caramel sweetness, tartness, and dark & dried fruit, especially grape & skins. Medium bodied, with decent spritz to the carbonation, the taste was similar, with some vinous character, dryness, moderate earthy & tannic bitterness, and noticeable booze & warmth. Well done!

22 oz wax covered bottle, poured. Copper golden pour with a cream foam head. Beautiful bottle here. Very pleasant grape impression here on the aroma and flavor combined. Different than any other beer with a strong grape note. Nice wine notes, as well as an oak barrel impression. All without being boozy in any way. Smooth and full of flavor. Soft dough late. This was an incredible beer to sip on over time. Loved it.

640 Ml bottle Dark ruby color, bright white head. Big AVB legs, very syrupy and sticky. Nose is grape, booze, banana, oak, subtle red wine notes. The sheer amount of booze and yeast kind of turned me off quickly on this. Did not seem to mesh well. taste was boozy red wine grape with oak. See where it was trying to go but not a lot of balance to this. Just a lot of booze and some grape coming through. hard to drink.

There’s a certain amount of vinous character that can be observed with all fine Belgian Strong Ales, but I’ve never seen it exposed as much as it is in Pinot Suave. I would certainly have to argue that this wine-like beer accomplishes what it set out to do brilliantly. The grape, berry, and oak notes impart tartness and tannins. Caramel and stone fruit tones, too. This dark-colored ale definitely highlights the similarities between beer and wine, and it’s polarizing for that reason. Depending how you view beer, that’s likely to leave you either inspired or irked.

Bottle, purple/amber beer, fizzy, off white head disappears. Aroma is red wine, malt, currants, oak. Taste is malt, booze, oak, red wine, black currant. Crazy beer, reminds me of stout and red wine. The alcohol is prominent, but not hot. Palate is smooth, not thick, carbonation moderate.
