COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, its an insiders ride to fresh thrills.

Smell is grass, pine, toasted bread. Rather light body and low carbonation, but together with the the mild flavor this brew is somehow surprisingly pleasant.

Pours a nice mostly clear copper color with a medium white head that has some good retention and left some nice lacing around the glass. The aroma is very citrusy, grapefruit, some hints of pine but mellow, lots of bready malts. The flavor is more of the same as the aroma and hits you right up front and finishes well. This beer packs a punch closer to an ipa but it is so balanced and the drinkability is super high. This is a very well made beer that I highly recommend.

Bottle from Js. Pours a clear, amber with a half finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Light pine and malty bread aromas. Clean and light, with some mineral notes, more bread, caramel and pine. Light bitter finish. Simple stuff.

Bottled (backlog). Orangeish amber colour with a small off-white creamy head. Aroma is resin, some spruce, mild red berries as well as some mild nectary notes. Flavour is nectar, some biscuity and bready notes with mild grassy and toffeeish notes as well.

Draft to pint at Pike pour light copper with minimal ecru head. Nose stone fruit and caramel malt, sweet flavors. Taste sweet up front, light bitter, then some flavors similar to nose. More sweet than bitter.

Hazy amber with a nice white head and lacing. Aroma is very mild, floral, sweet. Taste gets lot of caramel malts and citrus, but it remains mild. Bitterness comes strong straight after the "mild attack", enjoyable ale, but lacking character as most of Deschutes.

Light citrus and some hay. A little astringent. Hazy ruby color like dirty jewelry. Good head and lacing. Bitter finish. Bottle from Whole Foods.

anstei (1717) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - FEB 6, 2017
Bottle. Pours clear dark amber. Aroma is malt-forward, almost belgian, with some grassy and piny hops in the background. Body is medium, pines, low carbonation, with the malty bitterness usually belonging to an amber or a red ale. Lingering, lightly sweet and bitter palate. Rather a bit too much a like a syrup for me.

Poured from the bottle a reddish gold color with a bright head that stuck around and left good lacing. Bright floral aroma, with some tropical fruit sweetness to balance out the bitterness. Flavor was well balanced, making it easy to have more than one. I really enjoyed this one. Its a great drinking beer.

Tea and orange zest nose. Clear copper, thick yellow head, nice lacing. Orange, tea, fig accent. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not milquetoast at all, nice balance.
