COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, it’s an insider’s ride to fresh thrills.

My first andevture in the Deschutes Brewery line and was really disappointed. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum of most raters as I found this brew too citrusy and bitter.

Aromas of crisp hops, grass, melon, leafy hops, pines, resin, amber malts, caramel, ale yeast, toffee and grain malts. Pours a very nice crimson with a copper hue and a thin white foam. Taste brings a clean and straight bitterness with notes of pines, herbs, resin, dankness, tree sap, honey and hints of citrus upfront. Finishes smooth with a nice malt backbone of caramel, sturdy grains, amber malts, copper oils, toasted bread malt sugars and crisp ale yeast. Overall, this is straight and to the point. Nothing too outside the box but it takes the style and nails it. Very pleasantly clean bitterness and refreshing with every sip.

Paid $8 for a six-pack. 12floz bottle, BBD: 04.06.2017 (I’ve had fresher, I’m not gonna let a BBD get in the way), nonic glass. Appears amber n color, and head is stable leaving residue behind. In short, it smells like a candy medium bodied ale, and tastes somewhat like a caramel pine cone. A pretty generic description for a beer that the profile of a hoppy amber welll.

Bottle. Deep copper, red hue, medium off white head, good lacing. Aromas of grapefruit, pepper, rye, a touch of pine, bread and caramel malts. Quite spicy on the palate, with initial bitterness and warming, integrated alcohol. Leads into pine and a sweetish caramel middle and moderately bitter finish.

I had this towards the tail end of the night and had quite a few beers before hand but this was really shockingly delicious. Try it, you will like it ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Citrus hop aroma with notes of bready malt and light pine resiny hops. Pours clear copper colored with one finger of off white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with bright citrus hop flavors with some pine bitterness in the background. Finishes dry, but smooth with bready malt countering the hop bitterness well. Pretty good.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2017 This is a very smooth beer. I love the hop forward nature of this beer that lends the initial bitterness and refreshing nature of an IPA, but comes in with nice smooth and bready malts to just make this an easy beer to sip with pals or on a night in. Very nice.
