COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The citrus punch of a big IPA, minus the one-dimensional hop sledgehammer. Seven select European and domestic malts round out the edges for a complex, copper-colored brew. Like its namesake ski lift, its an insiders ride to fresh thrills.

As the name would imply very red in color, red-blonde really, with predominant flavor of anise. Bittersweet texture, some citrus, but that anise really carries the torch.

12 oz bottle poured into chilled tall glass. My new favorite everyday beer! Available at Safeway for $12.99/12 pack this NWPA punches well above its weight. The rich malty flavor is perfectly balanced by an assertive citrus/pine hop profile. Red Chair wouldve been classified as an IPA ten years ago because theres enough bitterness to please the casual hop head in all beer drinkers. Once again, Deschutes Brewery produced a superb beer.

12oz bottle from Whole Foods (Charlottesville, VA). Aromas of pine, grapefruit, cracker, light red berry. Slightly hazy red with a fairly lasting white head. Very nicely balanced, lightly fruity, light cracker. Light-medium bodied.

I think this is the best thing Ive had from Deschutes. Its really pretty tasty. It pours orange/red with average head, lace, and carbonation. The aroma is incredibly well balanced. Rich, hoppy, just a little bit sweet, with a hint of apple and spice notes. The flavor is is balanced, too... the malt is warm and rich and the hops kick in on the finish without stealing the show. This is somewhere between an American strong ale and a pale ale, and flirts with both styles in a tasty and unique way.

Aroma is a mellow citrus and light caramel. Appearance is hazy copper with small off white head. Taste is balanced citrus hop, caramel and hop bitterness. Palate is medium crisp. Overall ok, hop are a little one dimensional and the malt lacks complexity.... but a decent drinker.

Draft at Capital Ale House in Short Pump, VA The APA poured a red-amber color with an off white head and lacing. This was listed an IPA. Having both Mirror Pond and this together, I like Red Chair better. This is very smooth pale ale . The aroma was light citrus with mango. The flavor was easy to enjoy with balanced bitterness with a malt backbone. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. Despite the hop character, bitterness is quite tame as the swallow slides off the tongue.

Draft sample at Dominion Wine & Beer, thanks Alex! Clear golden amber with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, stone fruit, malt, light floral. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, malt, citrus peel. Medium body with a dry finish.

Bottle from Kroger. Pours clear golden with only a dusting of a head. Aroma of orange, tomato sauce with onions - almost reminds me of the good ol Cleveland style pizza bagels - kinda strange for a beer. Flavor is minor citrus, minor pine, heavy bread, cardboard, light oregano (perhaps its that tomato sauce thing), grapefruit peel, and a tropical fruit finish. Strange... interesting too.

Not normally a big IPA guy but this was smooth and flavorful. Not overly hoppy like most IPAs.

Bottle to glass - pours a rich amber with a thin white head. Extra points for lace and perfectly suspended particulate....I mean, evenly distributed and not really settling. Aroma of ripe red grape, plum, pine and sweet malts, inviting. Nice crisp taste, well balanced, floral hops, more fruity malts, berries. Very well made guys.
