COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Abyss Scotch – “The most multifaceted liquid truffle ever fashioned. Dark cherries brined in light peat smoke and popped into the heart of a prune. Then drizzled with toffee and flamed caramel, crusted with white and green peppers, and dipped in honey infused molasses. This beautiful construction is then delicately coated with rich dark chocolate and finished with a luxurious coating of milk chocolate and a dusting of cocoa powder and gold flakes. Served on a chard shard of oak with three sultanas and pieces of vanilla suffused marzipan.” Complex earthy, smoky, and oak notes play against a refined, yet boozy, mix of sweet and bitterness. Malt Pale, Black, Chocolate, Black Barley, Roasted Barley, Wheat Hops Millennium, Nugget, Styrian, German Northern Brewer Other Blackstrap Molasses, Brewer’s Licorice, Vanilla Beans, Cherry Bark Barrel Aging (100%) 12 months in Scotch Whiskey

22oz Bottle. Crazy good stuff, the scotch comes through and adds one more layer to an already complex brew. Cocoa, anise, barrel wood, malt sweetness, caramel. Deep, dark and satisfying.

From tap at Deschutes Brewery, Bend. Aroma is earthy and smokey with dark malt, tobacco, coffee, roast, touch of peat, scotch barrel, dark chocolate, dessert notes, a hint of prunes. Flavour is sweet and medium bitter. A bit boozy, but not terribly so. Body is full. Rich and very good.

On tap at the Bend BrewPub Black with a thin light down ring of bubbles. Warm smooth dark roast and tootsie rolls and chocolate notes. The scotch and barrel flavors are not overpowering. Very nicely balanced and a good ABV burn at the end. Smooth.
