Shared 22 oz. bottle. 2015 edition. Pours dark brown with a dark tan head. Aroma of cognac, fruit cake, roasted malt. Taste is cognac, roasted malt, licorice, fruit cake, brown sugar, ash. Boozy finish. Strong stuff.

22oz bottle pours an oily black with some spitty, tan head. Nose has malt, toast, booze, heavy chocolate and toasted marshmellow and a little maple. Flavor has smoke, wood, maple, birch, chocolate, toast, mild specialty grains. Full bodied, sticky finish.

22oz bottle at the DC Ratebeer tasting. Poured a pitch black, motor oil color. Small tan head. Aroma was dry, slightly hot cognac, coffee notes, chocolate, some light brown sugar, roasted malt notes, vanilla. Flavor was smooth for the ABV.
