COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Abyss Scotch – “The most multifaceted liquid truffle ever fashioned. Dark cherries brined in light peat smoke and popped into the heart of a prune. Then drizzled with toffee and flamed caramel, crusted with white and green peppers, and dipped in honey infused molasses. This beautiful construction is then delicately coated with rich dark chocolate and finished with a luxurious coating of milk chocolate and a dusting of cocoa powder and gold flakes. Served on a chard shard of oak with three sultanas and pieces of vanilla suffused marzipan.” Complex earthy, smoky, and oak notes play against a refined, yet boozy, mix of sweet and bitterness. Malt Pale, Black, Chocolate, Black Barley, Roasted Barley, Wheat Hops Millennium, Nugget, Styrian, German Northern Brewer Other Blackstrap Molasses, Brewer’s Licorice, Vanilla Beans, Cherry Bark Barrel Aging (100%) 12 months in Scotch Whiskey

Bottle. Black with a brown head. Rich roast, chocolate, molasses, dark fruit, vanilla, and plenty of peaty scotch. Tastes the same; roasty, lightly sweet, a nice amount of barrel, but not too boozy. Full bodied and smooth. Very nice.

Bottle. Aromas of chocolate =, huge dark fruit, vanilla, barrel, and alcohol fumes. Wow! Pitch black, with a dark creamy head. Flavors of chocolate, bourbon (fairly mild), more chocolate, and some licorice. Smooth, medium- heavy body, and feels rich on the tongue. Great stuff. It is a bit thinner than the othe barrelled versions of Abysss, but so smooth and full flavored. Liked this one the best among the Cognac, Brandy, and Scotch barrel versions of Abyss that we sampled at one sitting.

650ml bottle from Elizabeth Station shared at Alex's. Pours a very dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma is barrel, scotch, some pit (that is not overwhelming, thx, God). Taste is roasted malt, some spicyness and fruitiness. Good one.

Oakes (19549) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 2, 2017
Dark brown with a thin light brown head. This has a fairly rich aroma, lots of dark fruits, lots of alcohol, woody, touch of molasses, and with a somewhat indistinct whisky note...the notes say smoky but I'm not necessarily getting that. On the palate, this is sweet and smoky, maybe some molasses, and a big whisky character. It's a bit unbalanced and boozy...lots of good stuff in here even if it's a little bit out of balance.
