2010 Vintage (aged 13-14 months, poured into a tulip)
The beer pours a dark brown opaque body with a tan head that dissipated quickly. The head clings to the side of the glass, just by the pour you can tell it’s a rich thick beer.
The nose is light, some chocolate and coffee, with notes of vanilla in the nose followed by a tad of oak and bourbon.
Amazing flavor, just out of this world good and surprisingly complex. Filled with chocolate and coffee, there’s a touch of vanilla, licorice, a nice subtle oak-iness that gives the sweetness depth. Incredibly well-balanced smooth imperial stout.
A very full-bodied beer, the Abyss boasts in it’s rich creamy mouthfeel, almost like silk it’s so smooth. When paired with the complex flavor profile it just makes this one of my all-time favorite beers to enjoy after some aging.
Pours a pitch black with a big thick foamy brown head. Thick oily texture with lots of lacing. Boozy aroma with roasted malts, licorice, and woody note. Thick and creamy full mouth feel. Lots of dark malts, charred wood, molasses, and some spices. Smooth warm finish with long lasting lingering aftertaste. Doesn't taste as boozy as it smells. Very bold flavors with a hefty body. Smooth and very enjoyable. Better than I expected. PintTeam6 (2) - - JAN 7, 2018 does not count
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2018 Black like soy sauce with a thick caramel head. Creamy mouth feel. More metallic flavor then I prefer. Not as sweet as I expected. MaBeer1972 (2208) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JAN 1, 2018
Bomber bottle from Winco. Poured into a snifter. Jet black with a thick dark tan head and lace. Rich roasty aromas. Flavor is intense. Dark chocolate, oak, sweet molasses and licorice. Bit of woody vanilla. Earthy spice bitterness balances it well. Body is heavy. Alcohol is well masked. Opens up nicely after it warms a while. Ron (4265) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 26, 2017

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2017 Bottle at home, 2014 Reserve. Very very dark brown, firm creamy brown head. Bitter roasted malts with espresso, cacao up front, liquorice, then red fruits and vinous notes, bourbon boozy, vanilla. Balance is very good but not exceptional; complex still. Lingering roasted malty, btiter aftertaste. Intensely soft mouthfeel, low carbonation, good body. scotchzombie (622) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - DEC 16, 2017
