Bottle at City Beer Store, with a framboise chaser. Dark brown color, looks thick from far away but sloshes around just like regular beer. Huge aroma of molasses, alcohol, raspberry, bourbon--taste also has caramel, chocolate, burnt wood. Soothing smooth mouthfeel with a kick at the finish of sour licorice and lemons. Wow beer.

Bottle, vintage 2016. Aroma is chocolate, cherry, some pine. I don't taste liquorice. Good.

Bottle shared with the KL tasting crew. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, liqourice, coffee, chocolate, caramel fudge, some light oaky notes, raisins and alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich, oily, sticky, roasty, burnt treacle, liqouice, warm alcohol bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

(2016 vintage, bottle) Aroma: huge iron....rly ?, bit roasty, some hoppy fruitness. Appearance: black, big head. Taste: lighlty sweet, flavour of iron, dark chocolate, hoppy fruitiness some vanilla, roasted malt, very bitter hoppy finish. Palate:medium to full body, low to medium carbonation. Overall: Iron and shitloads of hops, rly I'm very dissapointment.

PAKK 2017 - The Abyss 2015. W aromacie czerwone owoce, kawa, delikatna czekolada i praliny. Piwo jest zadziwiająco gładkie i pijalne. Ciągle chce się brać kolejny łyk. Alkohol jest dobrze ukryty, choć delikatnie smyra po języku

Pours deep black with bronze head. Coffee overtones give way to deep indescribable flavor. Gets better as beer warms up. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Finally! This has been one of those long-time-coming beers... I’ve wanted to try it for probably ten years, and for some reason, the opportunity just hasn’t arisen. Until tonight, that is... As serendipity would have it, decided to visit a second Binny’s while in Chicago - and they had one bottle left... there you go. As for the beer itself... well, it pours black with a beautiful head, about two fingers thick and deep tan, gradually dissipating and turning a lighter tan. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, molasses, muscovado, light bourbon barrels. Very balanced, very smooth. Taste is slightly tarty, almost berry-like, immediately up front before turning into a rich roasty finish. As I try this, I realize it will probably evolve incredibly well given a couple of years. In that way it reminds me of a richer Expedition Stout. But as it stands, it’s still a very drinkable, very big, imperial stout!

2016 Reserve. The aroma is malt, chocolate, nuts, licorice. Pours thick black with tan creamy head mostly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is medium sweet then a medium/heavy bitter. WOW! The body is full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long and bitter. This is a FRICKIN DAMN GOOD BEER!!!

Black in appearance with a brown head. Flavors of cocoa, alcohol, roast, slight burnt and vanilla.
