Pours a dense coal-black with a thin, wispy, mocha head on top. The nose is rich and sweet with plenty of vanilla, oak, chocolate, charred toast. Really nice. With a beer this big, I like a bit of depth in the feel. This one delivers. Heavy full-mouth with ample carbonation to back it up. Rich, velvety feel with an easy finish. There’s so much going on in this beer, it’s hard to stay focused. The vanilla makes a showing, but it is fleeting at best. The sweetness instead comes from the semi-sweet chocolate and toffee character. With such a small percentage of this seeing the bourbon barrels, I’m not surprised that that is downplayed as well. Mild spiciness on the back end, and a slight tart kick to finish this one out. Fantastic beer. One I was glad to trade for, and one I will hunt down again.
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2018 Black like soy sauce with a thick caramel head. Creamy mouth feel. More metallic flavor then I prefer. Not as sweet as I expected. MaBeer1972 (2205) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JAN 1, 2018
Bomber bottle from Winco. Poured into a snifter. Jet black with a thick dark tan head and lace. Rich roasty aromas. Flavor is intense. Dark chocolate, oak, sweet molasses and licorice. Bit of woody vanilla. Earthy spice bitterness balances it well. Body is heavy. Alcohol is well masked. Opens up nicely after it warms a while. Ron (4259) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 26, 2017
Bottle I received from Ben and then shared with Ben, Erica and Dan. beautiful pour of an intensely black, thick liquid with a thick brownish tan head. Huge aroma of massive roastiness, molasses, peat, brandy and burnt sugar. Velvety intense flavors - burnt toast, molasses, coffee, chocolate, cherrywood. Long lasting burnt toast finish. ibrubeer (426) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 25, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2017 2014 Reserve bomber. Aroma is rich, roasty. Black opaque color with reddish highlights, tan head that lingers, nice lacing. Flavor is smooth, molasses, licorice, rich...awesome! Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth, nice, imperial stout! fkoolen (1401) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - DEC 19, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2017 Bottle at home, 2014 Reserve. Very very dark brown, firm creamy brown head. Bitter roasted malts with espresso, cacao up front, liquorice, then red fruits and vinous notes, bourbon boozy, vanilla. Balance is very good but not exceptional; complex still. Lingering roasted malty, btiter aftertaste. Intensely soft mouthfeel, low carbonation, good body.

Thanks Yetsko for bringing me a vintage 2012 bottle. Rich complex stout. Chocolate, dark fruit, black licorice, slight smokiness. Very tasty!
