(#54) 22oz bottle bought in Dec 11’. Poured into tulip. Appearance: Golden amber with a haze. Some initial head, white with not much lacing. Aroma: Sweet fruits. Cherries, pomegranates, grapes, peaches, pears. Rye whiskey notes hidden well in the back. Honey. Buttery. Taste: Sweet malt, then a little tartness/sourness from pomegranate. Clove, banana, and caramel flavors coming through. Palate: Med bodied. Smooth. Pretty good carbonation. Sour aftertaste lingering. Overall: It’s a delicious Quad. I might buy another bottle if it came around. Glad to have tried it.
2015 Bottle bought at brewery 8/17. This is a lovely beer, deep golden color and strong aromas of cooked fruit, maple syrup, cherry, oak. Well balanced and complex, candy sugar, light and dark fruit offset with breadiness, cinnamon spiciness, slightly vinous. Long finish with spice, vanilla, and more fruit. Delicious. Just wow, Cracking aroma and lovely looking beer that delivers in taste and enjoyment from the beginning to the end, rich fruity syrupy with a underlying bitterness, to a sweet finish and lingering note, that competes with a dryness. It's very pleasant. BrettTaylor (784) - Radford, Virginia, USA - SEP 1, 2017
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2017 2015 bottle poured into snifter. Pours beautiful rich gold with moderate head. Very nice fruity and caramel malt notes. ricke49 (103) - La Pine, Oregon, USA - JUL 5, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2017 2015 bottle - remarkably it’s still available in Fall of 2017 (secret location). Such a complex fruity, malty, just-sweet-enough creation! Alcohol ’burn’ is very whiskey-like after 2 years...but it’s a smooth, pleasant whiskey warmth. This 2015 brew is drinking just fine in Fall 2017! furthur (1255) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - MAY 16, 2017
My cellar note says I was supposed to open this last month, I don’t know why. 2015 vintage, crystal clear amber beer, decent cream colored head dissapeared. Aroma is cherry, malt, caramel, plums, toast, smoke. Taste is cherries, oak, malt, cherry lifesavers, hint of ginger (or something spicy), whiskey. Palate is smooth and rich, carbonation moderate. This is a bit sweet, but nicely complex.

The Stoic captures a lot of Belgian character while remaining true to Deschutes’ tendency to experiment. It has a brown/dark amber color. Malt sugar, bread, light booze, and herbal hops on the nose. Tasting revealed molasses, dark fruit, vinous character, subtle chocolate, and juicy citrus. It certainly draws heavily from the Belgian styling, but the fresh fruit gives it something unique. Mouthfeel is characteristically full and soft. A superb Quad. Oakes (19426) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 13, 2017
On tap at the John B Pub. Inexplicably poured into a frozen shaker. Wow. Cloudy, thin head. There’s some barrel, nice fruitiness, touch of alcohol and a fair bit of brandy-accented malt sweetness. Rich sweetness, brandy barrel a bit but mostly estery, fruity and really sweet. Touch of alcohol, and a hit of phenol that The brewery might have preferred aged out in the wood. Ultimately a somewhat messy strong brew that doesn’t have anything to latch onto. Can’t lie though - I need to try this again, served properly. stantheman (1101) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 11, 2017
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2017 On tap at the John B Pub in Coquitlam. I love quads but this is an unusual take on the style, namely the addition of pomegranate. I’m enjoying it but this is a 12 oz which will be more than sufficient. Anyway plenty rich decadent fruits on offer and enjoying it very much. 3.6

June 08 2017 at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. Impressions are about the same as at the John B Pub. Very light and fruity for the style. 3.6
It’s a decent quad, but no way worth the 40 buck price tag even for a bomber. Flavor’s good, body’s a touch thin for a quad. HuskerTan (2449) - Ravenna, Nebraska, USA - FEB 27, 2017
A- Candy, oranges, sweet, dark fruits, tomato.
A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head.
T- Tomato juice, sweet, cheap wine.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish.
O- Okay, so I’m not sure why I detected so much tomato aspect but as weird as it was, it was still tasty.
