COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tart, refreshing Berliner Weisse inspired by our recent collaboration with BrewDog. In place of hops, scotch broom and red cedar leaves were added to impart the smallest hint of bitterness and a touch of fruit. Try it plain, or with our house made syrup. Cheers to urban forager Becky Lerner for supplying locally foraged scotch broom and cedar leaves!

On tap @ Deschutes, Portland. Pours light yellow with a small creamy head. Aroma is sweet with malts and toffee, as well as some light whiffs of wood. Quite light and with a thin texture, and a soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet, with an ever so small touch of tartness. Paired with the raspberry syrup there’s a bit more sting to it, but still a bit too little of the expected tart/ sour flavours. Very easy drinking and refreshing though.

Draft at the PDX pub. Pours a very light yellow and nearly clear. Very subtle tartness, dominated by a wheat like graininess. a touch of fruity esters. good, but not quite what I was expecting from a Berliner, not very sour.

On tap at the Portland Brewpub. Clear yellow pour with some head. Aroma was tart, citrus, grain and a touch of hops. Taste was consistent with the aroma. Light bodied and some carbonation. Maybe I should have added the syrup.

Draught at Deschutes Brewery & Public House in Bend. Dusty & light lemon juice aroma. Very light clear yellow color. A light tartness and fruit so mild that it is simply an afterthought / small scratchy floral bits in mid / finish is very delicate and smooth. Light light light body. So light, in fact, it could almost be a breakfast drink.

On draught at Deschutes Brewery and Public House. Light yellow golden color. Very light yeast and malt aroma. Taste is slight sourness with a sweetness of grape, dough, and yeast. Paired with a raspberry syrup that takes it from refreshing to really tasty.

Glass at the PDX Brewpub. Pours a somewhat clear golden color with a large white head. A light fruity nose with some herbal elements and yeasty earthy bread. Not much tartness here, some hay, slight oak-like sourness, bready, light fruit. Interesting, drinkable and pretty easy going.
