4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This 6.4% ABV brew poured up on tap at the brewpub exhibits a clear gold body supporting a white head that leaves behind sheet lacing. The aroma has some light spicy hop notes as well as earthy hops and a faint maltiness in the background. The taste is pleasingly rich with smooth sweet malts heading quickly into tea like earthy hops and spicy rye bread goodness that demands another sip. It gets drier and more bitter with hops to midway and into the finish. This has a nice flavor ride that gets into yummy earthy dank shallot and garlic hop notes at times. Love it! The richness and body and ABV suggest IPA rather than a Pale.
From notes. Tasted on 12/23/12 on tap at the brewpub. Pours clear golden amber with a thick white head that leaves thick, messy lace. The nose is spicy and earthy rye malt with a nice dose of resin hops. The flavor is spicier, more rye focused, with the hops kicking in some really nice bitterness on the back of the palate. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long spicy rye and bitter resin hops finish. DiarmaidBHK (5896) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 15, 2013
Draft at taproom. Pours golden with a half inch of white foam. Not much on the nose. I get a bit of the rye on tongue and a bit of citrus as well but they’re both faint. Finishes clean. Eh! Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUN 3, 2013
Tap at the brewery. Rating #1. Nice pale ale, light spice to go with the hops, pretty good. (2767)
