Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish brown pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, dark fruit, slight yeast into a bit of toasted bread, some slight grassy and earthy hops in there. Taste was a mix of caramel, toast, some slight trashy note into a bit of yeast, some grass, touch of dark fruit, finishing slightly sweet, dry. Dfonorow (2216) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 19, 2014

Draft at Jerry’s. Dark mahogany with good, creamy, tan head, light lacing / Roast nose of caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, roast grain, nut / Medium body, creamy, just a hint thin, otherwise good balance, and bitterness on the finish / Flavors of dark plum, licorice, semisweet chocolate, toast, caramel, grass, nut / Needs to be just a little bit bigger, a little more fruit, but still quite nice. jandd1983 (4330) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Sampled at Destihl. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of bread, caramel and creamy malt. The taste was very dry with caramel notes and some bitterness from the hops. Decent.

Sampled at the brewpub. Kind of muddy brown and opaque. A small beige head. Cool looking. Rich and malty with a little harshness. Interesting hop notes and some late spiciness. jonas (7575) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - APR 25, 2013
Sampled in Champaign 11.2012.
Light roast and fruit aroma.
Chestnut brown, offwhite lace.
Fullbodied, roasted with fruity notes.
A hint metallicity, chocolate. Lacks the herbal hops and metallic dryness of a German alt. thegreenrooster (4402) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - APR 20, 2013
Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a decent roasted malt with some dark cooca. Flavor again starts out very heavy on the malt with a big caramel note. Finish has more of the malt but with an ever so slight touch of coffee. Decent beer and I wish these guys would bring their stuff closer to St. Louis. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - FEB 5, 2012
on tap-pours mahogany with a tan head that laces. Aroma is medium malt. Taste is roasty-medium malt, some hop bite.
