Tap/Growler - not much head, murky dark brown color, roasty and nutty mat aroma and flavor, mild earthy hop balance, not bad overall

Toasty nutty flavor. Malty. Pretty tasty. Had this on draft at Destihl. One of the better browns I’ve had jandd1983 (4442) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - MAY 7, 2013
Sampled at Destihl. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of coffee and roasted nuts. The taste was of coffee and roasted malt. Good stuff! DuffMan (10549) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 29, 2013
On tap @ Champaign location. Deep copper colour, clear, with a medium off-white head. Nutty caramel profile, lightly hopped. Nothing adventurous here, but pleasant enough. hayduke (5599) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 28, 2013
This was from a Sampler in the brewpub in Normal Pour was brown as a Brown would be expected to be but was actually red when held up to the light. Nose of malts with some nuts and floral hops. Medium body. Flavor is fruit and nuts, and the hops add character. Nice bitter finish. Tasty.

Sampled at Destihl Normal. Dark brown with red. A beige ring. Not a big nose but it has nuts and roasyed notes. A nice nutty flavor with roasted malts. A hint of grass is a surprise. The after taste is brown sugar and roasted with some hop bitterness. Those hops are citrus. Nice. novels (424) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 5, 2013
Another disappointment from Destihl. Super thin, with barely a hint of aroma and no interesting flavors going on here. Color is a medium brown with hues of ruby and gold. No redemption here. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 29, 2012
Draft 4 oz pour on tap at the brewpub (Normal, IL). Pours a richer deep brownish hue, a kiss of haze, darker dulled middle with some glowing amberish edges show some inviting glow. Frothy whitish head laces ok as it stays around as a thicker ring, laces ok. Aromas are a touch sticky, caramel and toffee, carmelized malts, nutty earthy chestnuts, kiss of cocoa. Biscuits, toasty, with a gentle kiss of sweetness, deeper dark malts. Initial is lighter end of the fold, but still offering a touch of body into the medium category. Touches of toast, chestnuts, and gentle carmelization grace the palate. Caramel, toast, and biscuits. Gentle toffee and almost a kiss of creamy sweetness. The caramel apple coating element, with chopped nuts, gentle creamy sweetness hits as I get used to it. Middle is solid, a bit toasty, mellow sweetness as the finish gets a bit more toasty, a bit more dry. Enjoyable, fairly balanced if simple. But that’s exactly what it’s supposed to be. Solid drinker. Can see the missus liking this. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 13, 2011
Draft at the Champaign location. Pours a darker brown with an offwhite head, good retention and mostly clear. Nose is lightly roasty and caramel. Distinct toasty note, not really particularly nutty. On tasting, there is some light caramel and toasty malts, balancing bitterness and a drying finish. Minimal roast. Some acrid charcoal notes as well. Okay. timmy300 (203) - bloomington, Illinois, USA - FEB 16, 2009
didn’t understand this one. it was rather unattractive with a dirty murky brown color, and tasted stale. I think they just over did the malt bill for this beer. unpleasant.
