On tap at the Chicago Beer Fest ’12. Pours a black body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is nice with a good amount pumpkin, chocolate, roasts, and a light spicing. Touches of vanilla in there as well. Flavor is similar. Roasts stand out a little more with all the pumpkin, rich chocolates, and light spicing. Finishes dry with some roasts and a light bitterness as well as some pumpkin and chocolate. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-light, smooth body and a creamy, medium-light carbonation. Overall, a pretty well balanced and tasty Pumpkin Porter. Tap at Stubby’s. Pours to a dark brown body with a tan head. Nice composition in the appearance. Super nice aroma with lots of pumpkin, dark cereal grains, cardamom, and light chocolate. Flavor is cardamom and nutmeg with chocolate and a nice sweet cereal grain and pumpkin. Spiced, but very balanced. Medium full body that finishes clean.

Sampled at Adam’s fine wedding. Sweet smoky pumpkin filling aroma. Some of those pumpkin spices in the flavor. Light roasted tartness that’s odd. A little acidic. Harsh. The flavors don’t match the aroma. Ok. 7/3/7/3/15

Sampled on tap at the brewpub (Normal, IL). Pours a nice roasty rich brownish hue, some good haze, with frothy tannish head that dies to a good film, laces ok. Aromas are mellow pumpkin spice, cocoa, and cinnamon. Some vanilla, more cocoa, gentle toast and sweet caramel. Lighter on sweetness than anticipated. Initial is medium bodied, offering a decent pumpkin essence, some carmelized sugar and toast, gentle pumpkin pie spices show some cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel. Middle is spicy, with some more pumpkin, actual pumpkin (not the spices), with some gentle cocoa, mellow spice, dries a bit more into the finish. Pretty nice, lighter bodied, more of a darker pumpkin beer with some dancing crisp toffee and dry cocoa. Pretty nice beer here.
