Tap - good size fairly thick head, nice medium copper color, dry malt aroma and flavor with some rye spice - pretty good TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2012
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Normal, IL). This version is a 2nd runnings batch of Antiquity. Pours a rich amber hue, some fiery glow throughout. Well carbonated with a frothy whitish head atop that dies to a film and laces ok. Aromas are touches of biscuits, light caramel, and a smoothed out gentle fruit quality. Subtle dry florals, grass, and touches of oranges. A mellow dryness and cereal grains, bread, and biscuits come in. Initial is mellow, lighter end of the scale body wise offers some husky dry malts. Touches of toast, biscuits, and rye bread. Mellow spice and floral hops as we work into the middle. A touch of honey, cereal dryness move in. Crisp dryness, gentle spicy earthy hops grow. Really enjoyable, simple and small, efficient with some firm dryness into the backend. Touches of mellow rye, biscuits, and gentle carmelized dry malts. Enjoyable small beer here and a good 2nd runnings experience. Stays away from the sweetness, getting dry and a bit spicy into the finish and lingering on. Extra point for a small beer I can get behind for a session.
