on tap-white-gold. A-perfumy/spice. T-biting perfumy/spice hops, some lt malt. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Draft at GTMW 12. Pours a deep golden, near copper with a thin wispy head. Nose is juicy hops, some pine and strong citrus. Ethanol and sweetness are also noted as well. On tasting, comes across realistically as a big American Barley Wine and will probably age well into that category. Big bitterness and an oil body. Sweetness from both the malt and alcohol permeate the beer. Lots of fruity hops as well here. Pretty cool beer and clean but could be drier. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 29, 2012
Cask pour on tap at Destihl’s 1st Barrel And Firkin Fest (Normal, IL). Pours a rich milkshake hazy amber hue, deep golden hazy hue with loose bubbly head, dies to loose bubbles, laces small. Wow, ugly. Aromas take it to another level with rich bitter grapefruit and florals, firm dry hops, citrus, and lemon. Touches of grass with deeper dry bitter hops. Touches of bread, some pale malts. Aromas are killer. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied with a deep bitter grapefruit element. Some tropical fruit, lemon, richer bitterness and huge fruity hop influence. Big bitterness, grapefruit, firm bitterness grows. Rich hop element, bitter and citrusy, touches of tropical and lemon, florals. Backend and finish offers rich grapefruit, touches of soap, florals, grass. Touches of bread. Wow. Really hop dominant. Not a pretty beer on cask, but I will definitely re-rate on tap. Rich deep grapefruit juice and hop influence. Flavorful, bitter fruity hop influence steals the show. Gentle carbonation. Nice. Rerate pending for appearance.
