The aroma and flavor of this classic hefeweizen (or weissbier/wheat beer with yeast) is decidedly fruity with clove, nutmeg-like and even vanilla-like phenolics. Banana-like esters are also present. This beer is made with over 50 percent malted wheat, and hop rates are quite low, with hop flavor and aroma being absent. Hefeweizen is well attenuated and very highly carbonated, yet its relatively high starting gravity and alcohol content make it a medium-full bodied beer. The color is very pale. Because yeast is present, the beer will have yeast flavor and a characteristically fuller mouthfeel and is appropriately very cloudy. Alcohol by Weight (Volume): 4.6% (5.9%) Bitterness (IBU): 14 Color SRM (EBC): 4 (8)

On tap. Poured a pale golden color with a small head. Aroma of citrus, vanilla, some banana and grass. Taste of citrus, banana, bit of yeast and grain. Mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish. Fairly light body with a slight malt presence. Nice beer that goes well with Summer.

In the clearance aisle at Tiffanies. Pours a cloudy brownish yellow with a small head that instantly fizzles away. Carbonation stays active and there is an interesting churning that refreshes the thin band of foam that sticks to the outside of the glass. Aroma of banana, clove, sweat bread. Taste is a doughy sweetness with mild tart notes up front that fades to just a plan mild sweetness in the middle. Ends with some faint hints of yeast, banana and clove and a little more tartness emerging at the end. Very mild, verging on weak taste. What is here is OK but is very simple and lacking any distinctive features. Not something I’ll get again even at $2.99 for a 4 pack.

12 ounce can into weizen glass, canned on 721/2015. Pours hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big banana, bubblegum, clove, vanilla, lemon, wheat, biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big banana, bubblegum, clove, vanilla, lemon, wheat, biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness, yeast spiciness, and wheat tang on the finish; with lingering notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, vanilla, lemon, wheat, biscuit, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth and creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a great hefeweizen. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

thegreenrooster (4588) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 25, 2016
Pour is a cloudy orange with a soda like fizzy white head that was gone in a second. Aroma has that banana and clove thing going to let you know this is a hefe and not a wheat beer. Flavor is actually more of a wheat beer than a hefe. Wheat and honey malt mostly with hardly any clove or banana. Also this was way under carbonated and almost flat. It says boycott bland on the side of the can but this was about as bland as it gets.

djd07 (15663) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAY 6, 2016
On tap at Conservatory. Pours a hazy gold with medium creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is spice, yeast, banana. Thin mouth, strong banana, citrus, light finish, good.
