COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The aroma and flavor of this classic hefeweizen (or weissbier/wheat beer with yeast) is decidedly fruity with clove, nutmeg-like and even vanilla-like phenolics. Banana-like esters are also present. This beer is made with over 50 percent malted wheat, and hop rates are quite low, with hop flavor and aroma being absent. Hefeweizen is well attenuated and very highly carbonated, yet its relatively high starting gravity and alcohol content make it a medium-full bodied beer. The color is very pale. Because yeast is present, the beer will have yeast flavor and a characteristically fuller mouthfeel and is appropriately very cloudy. Alcohol by Weight (Volume): 4.6% (5.9%) Bitterness (IBU): 14 Color SRM (EBC): 4 (8)

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2016 Growler from abc in FL. Smells like lemon cleaner. Looks great. For hefe, seems lacking. Flavor is flat. Addendum: just had a can. Hefeweizen? Not even close. Fruity (blueberry?). Plain. Lowered my rating

Draft to taster at the Champaign brewpub. Looks solid; a mildly hazy gold with white head that dissipates into lacing pretty quickly. Smells yeasty with notes of clove and mild banana. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced. Heavier on the clove with a touch of grain as well. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. A decent example of the style.

From the can. Hazy gold with zero head, zero bubbles, zero carbonation. So apart from being flat, there are hints of banana and spice, perhaps a touch of citrus. Meh.

Can. Wheat malt, faint banana, and clove aroma. Slightly hazy - almost clear - straw gold with a small white head which has no retention. Sweet banana, heavy clove, and wheat malt flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Way too sweet for a hef.

On tap at Hops and Pie poured a cloudy yellow with a small lasting white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, clove and light bubblegum. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast and citrus with a smooth dry finish.

Slightly hazy gold pour with a thin white head that fades quickly. Aroma is wheat, big bready yeast, green banana, sweet cereal and light clove. Flavor is big doughy yeast, sweet and floury wheat, a hint of grassy and spicy hops, soft minerality, a hint of vanilla, and green banana. Medium body, creamy to slick feel, light, blanketing carbonation. Halfway decent overall, but the raw doughy yeast way overpowers any tasty esters and phenolics associated with a good Hefe.

Aroma is spices, fruit and mild bubblegum. The flavor is bubblegum, wheat, spices and a tart/very slightly sour finish.

It’s okay. Compared to many German hefeweizens, Desthl’s version is a little less "yeasty" but still refreshing.

12 oz. can. Pours an orangish amber with a small white head. The head fades to a ring around the glass. Minimal lacing. Aroma of banana, clove, and banana bread. Mild fruit and estery yeast notes. Flavor is mildly sweet with some yeast and bread notes. Medium bodied, above average carbonation. Finishes sweet.

Pour on tap at the brewery, slightly hazy yellow-orange with white head, aroma brought biscuit, cereal, banana into a bit of bubblegum, coriander, some sweet orange and pear notes, hints of pepper. Taste is a mix of cereal, bread, banana into clove, coriander, orange and white fruit as well, finishing sweet, slightly spicy.
