COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The aroma and flavor of this classic hefeweizen (or weissbier/wheat beer with yeast) is decidedly fruity with clove, nutmeg-like and even vanilla-like phenolics. Banana-like esters are also present. This beer is made with over 50 percent malted wheat, and hop rates are quite low, with hop flavor and aroma being absent. Hefeweizen is well attenuated and very highly carbonated, yet its relatively high starting gravity and alcohol content make it a medium-full bodied beer. The color is very pale. Because yeast is present, the beer will have yeast flavor and a characteristically fuller mouthfeel and is appropriately very cloudy. Alcohol by Weight (Volume): 4.6% (5.9%) Bitterness (IBU): 14 Color SRM (EBC): 4 (8)

I had this at Global Brew. Pours cloudy gold with a white head. Taste sweet, fruity, banana. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce can into weizen glass, canned on 721/2015. Pours hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big banana, bubblegum, clove, vanilla, lemon, wheat, biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big banana, bubblegum, clove, vanilla, lemon, wheat, biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness, yeast spiciness, and wheat tang on the finish; with lingering notes of banana, bubblegum, clove, vanilla, lemon, wheat, biscuit, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth and creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a great hefeweizen. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

(Tap) Pours a cloudy golden color with a billowing white head. Aroma of banana, yeast, and spice. Distinct clove notes. Also notes of wheat grain and bubblegum. Some vanilla in the aftertaste as well. The factor that sets this beer apart, however, is the palate and mouthfeel. Fine carbonation introduces a silky mouthfeel at first, but then the beer really has a thick, oily finish. I thought this was an excellent hefeweizen!

This has a very cloudy straw colored body with a lofty, fluffy head. Nice lacing. The aroma is rife with bananas of all ages backed by a sturdy clove spiciness. The flavor also contains soft wheat malt, bubblegum, and a mild trace of lemon. Very nicely done. If this was Summer, I’d have brought home a growler of this to enjoy outside.

12 oz. canned 08/25/2016. Foggy, golden pear colored with a thin film of foam. Nose has banana, citrus, bread and a touch of clove. Flavors of spicy banana bread, light lemon juice, earthy-spiced pear and caramel. Finish has some crisp wheat and spicy dryness. Near-medium bodied with medium carbonation and a good drinkable balance. Nice American replica of the venerable style.

This bottled brew from rbsg #19 poured a very small sized head of frothy medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy dark orange colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was citrus malty and banana. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild hops citrus and malt liquor. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

Stopping in for a break on the way to the Great Taste of the Midwest I was a bit overwhelmed by the number of choices. Eventually I settled on a couple of lighter beers before getting back on the road. This is a decent hefeweizen overall and something I would definitely not turn down if offered.

Aroma / Appearance - The cloudy base has an orange and bronze blend. Wisps of white head fall quickly into the fluid body. Grapefruit, bananas, wheat, and nutty undertones put this in the middle of the road for the style.

Flavor / Palate - A mild tang of lemon zest starts off the experience with a zing. Orange peels, bananas, and wheat bread are sweet on the tongue. Finally a finish of watered down Orangina wraps up an enjoyable beer that shows Destihl can do more than just sours.
