Bottle @ home. Black beer with a good, dark brown en firm head that stays for quite a while. Aroma of roasted/burnt malts, black coffee, salt licorice (even some soy sauce), hints of vanilla and dark dried fruits, sweet red wine or porto. In the taste I find almost the same as in the aroma, but the chocolate/coffee comes more to the front. Quit sweet in the beginning, with burnt bitter in the aftertaste. I would like this with a bit more body (sirupy), but still a very good beer.

Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and smooth and mildly dry. Decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth dark malts bring modest dark chocolate and dark malt cream. A whisper of milk chocolate. Tangy finish brings mild but unwelcome apple. Pinch of spice. Okay.

Large rough brown foam settles renewable at the top of this imperial stout. It has a wonderful aroma of coffee and roasted malt mixed with a little smoke. The taste is a little smoky but only very briefly before vanilla adds a mellow rounded relationship that carries it to the slightly burnt aftertaste where the coffee is allowed to take over. Light tannins in the final testify that it is aged and a deep lingering alcohol flavor testify port wine’s presence. It is a beer that is sure to win big terrain if it is stored for some years, but as a young imperial is certainly also good.

Bouteille 33cl de HopDuvel, BB 05/2016. Brune foncée, noire, épais moka avec un léger doré au verre. Arôme offre un bouquet subtil de vanille, caramel léger sur qcq effluves de barrique et Porto. Note de poudre de cacao assez prononcée.

Dankzij benzai, happy birthday dutchdrebus. Zwart en dikke bruine vaste schuimkraag. Olie achtig. Schuimkraag is net chocolademelk. Ruikt naar alcohol, hout, zoet. Smaakt eerst naar bourbon, hout, daarna komt de koffie, vanille.

Bottle. Black. Even the foam is very dark. Malt, roast, soy sauce and licorice in the aroma. Thick fluid. Malty sweet, grassy flavor with soy sauce and licorice. Salt. Roast. Very tasty, enough complexity. A good beer!

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Thanks to BoBoChamp: Pitch black pour. Medium sized slowly changing brown vast foamy head on top of a pitch black colored beer. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, whiskey, wood, roast, hints of vanilla and tar, light vinous, liquorice, chalk, cacoa, coal, flowers and some fruits drenched in liquid chocolate/coffee/liquorice. Nice! Flavours of roast, wood, chalk, raisin, bitters, spices, moss, peat, whiskey, some vanilla, warmth, bitter, barley malt roast, some sticky bitter sweets, coffee, some chocolate, hint of liquorice, hint of coal, hint of brown sugars, hint of honey, creamy, sticky, complex, delicious! Aftertaste is bitter, woody, spicy, roasty and whiskey ish.. Low to medium aftertaste, still complexity to be found. Low carbo, creamy oily mouthfeel, full body and an oily texture. Very good balanced and complex beer.

Dark brown/black beer, a lot of dark brown foam. Oily. Very powerfull aroma of roasted malt, smoke, dark chocolate, hops, port, vanille and dark fruit. Very well balanced: sweet and bitter aftertaste. Also a sour note. Very good beer!
