0.33l bottle from 2011. It wants out of the bottle this! It’s quite dark and really oily on the pour, actually as good as black in color and the head is really big, dark chocolate-brown and quite good looking. On the nose there are tons of things going on. The dominating aroma is actually something spicy and salty soy sauce mixed with licorice, chocolate, heavy roasted almost burned malts, some alcohol, wood and used matches. Quite deep, complex and really interesting. It’s soft to average on the carbonation, and it has a thick fat oily mouthfeel. It’s quite sweet this. Much more than the aroma lead me to beleive. Chocolaty-sweet, almost cloying with honey, quite warming and stingy with booze. Prickling cognac alcohol flavors with some salty licorice in the background. It’s really brutal this! Used the best part of two hours on this little bottle. 28.12.2012 BenH (3436) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 23, 2013

330 ml bottle. Thanks Timo A.ClubGonzo (5685) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 14, 2012
Pours a black colour with a beigeish head. Aroma of grassy hops, dark chocolate, syrup and licorice. Flavour of roasted malts, grassy hops, dark chocolate, oak, espresso, strong syrup and salty licorice. Alcohol comes through a bit too much. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes smooth, malty and a bit salty. A bit too sweet, at least now, but I’m guessing this ages well. Rather interesting, but not at it’s best yet.
Bottle. Gusher, leaving behind a large caramel head over a jet black body. Aroma is dark chocolate, burnt toast, licorice, wood, cognac, hints of coffee, sweet vanilla and dark sugars. Taste is sweet syrupy espresso notes, licorice, cognac, caramel and hints of sugar and alcohol. Very raw and unbalanced, with a near-sickening sweet fringe. Also, the palate is disturbingly fizzy for a full-bodied high ABV beer like this, creating a sense of confusion in my mouth. Not quite there unless you want a serious sugar rush. :-P Zita (6326) - Assentoft, DENMARK - OCT 29, 2012
