Bottle. Pours murky red brown, just a ring of foam, no head. Aroma is sweet with a lot of peat. Taste is sweet, peaty, leathery, with raisin and some fudge. Full body, soft carbonation. Oily. After taste is woody, dry and peaty.
Interesting! As a sucker for peaty beer, this one appeals to me but it’s not very true to the style. Nonetheless, I’ll seek this one out again.

Leighton (21879) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2013
Bottle at home in London - sourced from BarleyWine in Copenhagen way back in May 2012. Pours deep brown with a soft, creamy tan head; much darker than the non-BA version. A bit of burnt wood on the nose, ripe and dark fruits, suggestions of peat. Big sweet flavor with an aggressive peat whisky punch, some molasses, rich bread, alcohol, brown sugar, leathery fruits. Full bodied with fine, somewhat creamy carbonation. Warming, almost hot finish with lasting, tongue-coating peat character, dirt, mild earthy bitterness, hints of cocoa, dried and leathery dark fruits, some smoked and charred meat, burnt sugars, burnt wood. Decent beer overall, but the barrel aging certainly hasn’t done the base beer any favors.

madsberg (11774) - Søborg, DENMARK - OCT 12, 2012
Bottled. Burgundy coloured. Unclear. Light beige head. Aroma: smoke, fruits, Spice, bacon. Flavour. Smoke whisky, fruits, Spice tar. Med to full bodied. Ends light moked and fruity.

TheJestersBeer (2430) - SWEDEN - OCT 12, 2012
330ml bottle. Pours a deep, haze copper, with a thin beige head. Peaty, smoky aroma, malt, ashes, dried fruit, caramel, wood. Sweet, full bodied, medium bitterness, creamy CO2. Sugary, smoky taste, caramel, syrup, iodine, peat, ashes, wood, vanilla. The sugary mouthfeel collides head-on with the smokiness from the wood, this doesn’t do it for me. (2012-08-24)
