Not a big fan of the bigger, beefier West Coast IPA. (Apparently it’s been six years since I last tried this beer.) Malt bill comes across syrupy and thick, layers of caramel and biscuit, sweet and heavy and much stronger than expected. Hops are as heavy as advertised, although the lack of complexity leads me to believe this bottle’s older than the Drink By date suggests. Not much citrus or dank, mostly hard core malt heft followed by clingy, palate-scouring IBUs. Not a bad thing--I dig the bitterness--but damned if I can find much of anything citric or tropical here. Just a big bitter malt bomb. Eh. rdixon77 (2763) - Georgia, USA - JUN 4, 2017
Nice classic style IPA. Big caramel balanced with big bright hops. Long bitter finish. Good stuff. jhamp9 (1832) - Corinth, Texas, USA - JUN 3, 2017
Clear yellow orange pour with a white head. Tons of sticky lacing. Aroma is resinous, grapefruit, and pine. Taste is resin, pine, and grapefruit rind. Bitter hoppiness. Light body. tia (2148) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - JUN 1, 2017
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2017 Sample at Jack Browns. Dark Golden with thin head. Citrus aroma. Nice clean moderate bitterness. Grew on me even more as I drank it. meganflaherty (5) - - MAY 28, 2017 does not count
Terrible. The ending taste is so awful jake had to swish his mouth out. Never again.

On draft at Armadillo Willys in San Jose. Dark orange color. Citrus smell. Pleasant hoppy taste but not overpowering.

On draft at Yardhouse. Hoppy, floral aroma. Pours clear amber with little head retention but moderate carbonation. Taste is heavy on floral and citrusy hops with bitter and boozy finish. A classic DIPA, heavy on the hops, not as common nowadays but one that I always appreciate. Muggus69 (2435) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - MAY 19, 2017
355mL bottle from Beer Love online. BB 05APR17 - whoops
Pours a hazy copper body, white head.
Plenty of pine & spice & leafy dried herbs & grapefruit on the nose, toasty malt in there.
Big body, very resiny, lingering, sticky.
Intense body - lots of pine needle & sap, grapefruit rind, dried herbs, biscuity malt sweetness is hardly enough to cut through an aggressive lingering bitterness.
Full on, takes the palate for a good ride! bigpoppapump (2) - - MAY 14, 2017 does not count
Love the aromatic hops and taste even better served super cold. The price is a little high but the beer is definitely worth the added cost.
