The Stallion stands apart from the other Imperial Stouts I’ve tried that have had wine barrel aging. This black brew has lots of vinous grape flavor instead of just the tannic oak barrel taste you sometimes get with these kinds of brews. The mix of deeply roasted malt and dark fruitiness is an ideal match. It makes for a lovely dessert companion for something equally rich and complex. A- Black color, dark liquid, minimal head.
T- Chocolate, grapes, plums, wine barrel.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish.

Half liter bottle from State Line. Dark brown, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malts, leather, tobacco, coffee, hints of red wine. The taste is roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate, leather, red wine in the finish. Full bodied, creamy, booze completely hidden. Smuttlabs should just stick to imperial stouts because damn they do them well!

Flavor shows the red wine barrel but it never overwhelms my palate. Red grape is deep with light oak tannins that compliment the base stout. The body is mostly full with just a touch of alcohol after the sip.
Bottle said this is the red wine barrel-aged version...assuming this is it. Pours a thick, inky black with a small but dense cinnamon head. Aroma: milk chocolate, toasty oak, vanilla, grape skins, leather. Almost port-like. Flavor shows more dark fruit character, leading with rich grape and raisin notes before mid-palate oak tones and a boozy, steak char finish. Alcohol is large but well incorporated into the flavor. 4 oz pour at Churchkey. Poured a nearly black color with a light tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, light dark chocolate. Flavor was dark chocolates, bitter malts, light yeast. Pretty tasty. Lots of hidden alcohol in this one.
