Bottle 33cl. Pours dark with a medium light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, grapes, whiskey. Full body, sticky with a soft to flat carbonation. Taste is cafe, cherry, whiskey and red wine. (2013 version on tap @ Mikkeller and Friends, Copenhagen, May 11/17) Pours black with a tan head. Notes of quite roasted malts, burnt, ashy, nutty toast, light chocolate, some raw sugar, umami, leathery oak. A bit thin, very dry, almost mineral, with acidic roast that carries burnt notes all the way through to the aftertaste, where it’s augmented by some booze as well. Feels a bit oxidized, maybe the ~4yo nature of the beer. Mouthfeel not so substantial for style, carbonation soft. Eh, I think I see what the target was, but fresher/barrel might improve hitting it. On tap, 2013 vintage. Dark brown color, no head. Aroma has dark malts, spices and dark fruits. Taste has dark malts, cola, nutmeg and a bitter, roasty finish. Medium body, dry, low carbonation.

On tap @ Mikkeller & Friends. As good as black in the glass this. On the top a small islandy and sidesticking beigeish dark filmy top. It smells really dark burnt sugary. Dark candied sugar, hints of molasses and leather. Smells quite dry almost a little minerallic, roasted also of course. Tastes a little the same. Quite on the dry side. Charred and roasted all the way through. Definitely minerallic. It has a nice mild oily texture in the mouth and it’s above average on the growing carbonation. Small slightly fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head, deep black color. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish roasted, dark malts, licorice, weeds, grass, sour-ish roasted grain, bloodlike minerals, sour coffee, bark. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish mineraly, weeds, minerals, sour-ish roasted grain, bark, ashtray, grass, licorice powder, paper, hay. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish mouthfeel. Boring, not really my cup of tea.
