Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice hazy golden orange to yellow but also having a light brown flowing through and all around in the color. The head was about a half finger’s worth and trickled in its lacing.
The smell had a roasty caramel malt and slight nuttiness try to invade but maintain a healthy background.
The taste was mainly sweet and roasty adding a light element of nuttiness separate of the sweet and roasty flavorings.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat smooth but also had a decent sharpness about it as well.
Overall, good beer for the most part that I would have again. dmschefke (575) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - FEB 8, 2012
Solid and very drinkable amber with a nice ABV kick. I love picking up a growler of this to share or drink by myself. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - SEP 3, 2008
on tap-pours a light tan head and dark red color. Aroma is sweet medium malt/some musty/peat/chocolate. Taste is lots of sweet medium malt/some musty/peat/chocolate, a little fruit, some earthy hops bite. Medium body. Optigon (562) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAY 27, 2008
Pours dark red with a fine, white head. Flavor is butterscotch with a pleasant hop bitterness. I consider this a good hop bitterness. Reminds me a bit of Leinenkugel’s Red. shendrix (478) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 17, 2008
A very dark red, with caramelized hops set off against butterscotch on the palate.

clear dark red, frothy dirty white head, drippy lace, light dry malt aroma, tart malt flavor, strong woody cherry character, hint of sweetness adds balance, would make a nice flanders red
Aroma: 4/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 5/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 10/20
draft at brewpub - Pours amber with a caramel malt aroma. The flavor is caramel malt with a fairly good hops bite. Thin bodied and very straightforward, it’s a quite drinkable brew. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - APR 7, 2007
Poured a clear dark amber color with a medium creamy beige head. Papery oxidized with a mild tartness. Very acidic and sour. Lactic. acuraal3 (3) - Cheektowaga, New York, USA - JAN 23, 2007 does not count
Good beer, if you like malty, sweet, dark beers (which I do). Had a pint after dinner at the Brew Pub and after two pints of the Detroit Dwarf Zwickel. So perhaps it suffered after that excellent brew. pineypower (3328) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - FEB 22, 2006
Pours out a deep reddish amber color with a small head, very little lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is good, but for me its really not my style, sweet in the face malts, being a hop head this was not my thing, but I could appreciate the brew. Would try again if I came across it...got this on in a trade from....Sully I believe...thanks dude
